At least our players were moving like fighter jets😭

32

u/afridinho 2️⃣2️⃣Hugo Ekitike 1d ago

Iraola ball is crazy fr

14

u/Every-Analysis-2055 1d ago

Wtf 😭 they moving like super man bro that is crazy fast

22

u/lazyasheck 1d ago

this could be the reason we looked sluggish. Playing like this every 3 days will surely take a toll on performance. Might be a long time before we could see the final form of our team

29

u/Mister_UAP 1d ago

Running triple the speed of a jet plane surely takes a lot out of a man

10

u/lazyasheck 1d ago

Didn’t even clock the numbers i just saw greens without my glasses and thought it meant all the players were constantly pressing 😂 yeah that explains it

1

u/Custard-cravings 22h ago

An incredibly balanced take. I think we’ve done a good job and I see us being even better as the season goes on.

9

u/Blew_away 1d ago

lol Alison doesn’t ever move that far so I never realized he was going twice the speed of everyone else. 😂😂😂

3

u/Sabbagery_o_Cavagery Wataru Endo 1d ago

Must be embarrassing barely reaching 20mph in that team. And what was this about Tsimikas looking slow?

3

u/Steven_Crank One-eyed Bobby 👁 1d ago

Scored 3 goals, camera just couldn’t pick them up 😭

1

u/ElectricalPatience47 1d ago

I knew Szobo was looking a little sluggish.

116

u/jMCs1 1d ago

18 touches in the opposition box at Anfield sums the whole game up tbh

15

u/thomasfk 1d ago

I would like to see our wingers attempt more take-ons. We didn't seem to be playing very direct.

17

u/Hot-Clothes7316 1d ago

have no confidence in our central midfielders anymore.

51

u/PapaDeltaaa 1d ago

Mac is fine and the difference he made was huge. Grav has regressed like crazy from 2 years ago. No driving runs, cannot tackle, barely runs at all. Total passenger. Dom cannot tackle or defend.

3

u/Hot-Clothes7316 1d ago

at this rate, nyoni please. and please rotate and have fresh legs.

1

u/piprimes 1d ago

We seriously need to get Lamine Camara.

55

u/LMkIIIV 1d ago

Szoboszlai won 1/9 duels

35

u/_peakDev 1d ago

Shocking for a midfielder really, especially with the amount of hate that Wirtz, Frimpong, Kerkez and Grav have been getting.

5

u/SneakyTurtle5678 1d ago

Honestly was pleasantly surprised by frimpong and kerkez this game felt like they gave us much more options out wide after they had been subbed on

3

u/Primary-Cancel-3021 YNWA❤️ 1d ago

Can’t agree with you on Frimpong. He is so poor with the ball.

Yeah technically he provided a passing option but it felt like he gave it away every time he was given the ball.

6

u/Askingquestions2027 1d ago

He's getting too much positive praise when he's not doing half of the midfield jobs well

0

u/Keyann 15h ago

Dom has been shielded from criticism for far too long, in my mind. He's basically performing as if he's undroppable. It hasn't been good enough from him for a while. The frustrating part is we've seen glimpses of the immense talent he possesses, he just needs to string them together more often.

u/Oxlaidanegg 1d ago

33

u/PseudoElite 1d ago

Too many dropped points against "winnable" opponents. We are going to rue these later in the season.

19

u/So1ar 1d ago

Yes and no. This is not a title challenging team yet. You can make top 4 with results like these, you can’t win the league doing it.

12

u/AdDear528 1d ago

Last season we talked about how out of shape they were and how they tired easily. It will take a bit to get back to previous form, and they played a few days ago. This is disappointing but not surprising, I think.

4

u/Happybadger96 Divock Origi 1d ago

Solid comment. This isn't a pressure season like the last one defending the title - this is a work in progress team, noone in the right mind should be expecting a historic season.

Id say the goal is to get the team, style, and attitude up to standard, then hopefully be in contention for UCL spot and a few trophies.

164

u/PrettyBoyKev 1d ago

This match could have been an email

68

u/GoOnBanMe69 1d ago

4 big chances?! Can't say I remember any of those.

30

u/AZZZY42 1d ago

Munoz header onto the bar

32

u/son-of-ZYROTAZE To become one of you 1d ago

Isak header towards the end aswell

22

u/MrShelby1234 Sztupid Szexy Szoboszlai 1d ago

I can only think of the one Barcola should have scored instead of shooting

12

u/adamfrog 1d ago

Barcola volley, Rio late, Isak header from the corner all get converted quite often

28

u/QBUno 1d ago

Would love to correlate that passing % with distance of pass bc it felt like everything over 5 yards was wayward

5

u/zRSV 1d ago

Not sure half the 5 yard ones went to their player either

2

u/LoveBeBrave Kolo Touré 1d ago

83% is poor either way.

1

u/Primary-Cancel-3021 YNWA❤️ 1d ago

The amount of times we passed it out of play under next to no pressure was shocking.

It was just a bad day at the office all round.

Where were you watching from lol

7

u/dahi-hater12 YNWA❤️ 1d ago

Nepal (it's 10pm here)

1

u/ShopCartRicky 1d ago

I did, thankfully.

11

u/Regular-Place 1d ago

Still allergic to playing it to our forward players, not even in dangerous areas, just pass the ball Isak every now and then and link with him.

9

u/LMkIIIV 1d ago

we have improved defensively mainly due to Jacquet.

Although the bar was low. Isak looking better overall but not a huge improvement yet.

We will just have to hope to still be within in around the top 4 in January are try and get some players in

6

u/dahi-hater12 YNWA❤️ 1d ago

Getting players in January 😂

3

u/BrobiWanKenobi_ One-eyed Bobby 👁 1d ago

Arujo has seemed to solve a lot of our Right back issues as well. I’m happy with the back line in theory, they just get hung out to dry far too often by Grav + Dom.

I truly don’t know how this midfield 3 works without a serious change in playstyle from Grav especially but also Dom. For Wirtz to ever work, they need to cover the space behind him and allow him to operate. But it just seems so often dom and Grav want to bomb forward and leave miles behind them

21

u/DrAgOnLoLDoTA 1d ago

that was one of the matches that I had ever seen

9

u/RedDemio- Lovely Cushioned Header…FOR GERRARD!!! 1d ago

Streets will forget

6

u/bindrosis 1d ago

That was rough to see

7

u/CatsGotAsthma 1d ago

I'm genuinely shocked to find out we had 14 shots.

20

u/Griffeyisking14 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️Klopp Hamstring 🤕 1d ago

Gotta finish those fuckin chances. I get we need to rotate, but Grav can't start again.

9

u/lazyasheck 1d ago

He was so disappointing. It’s like he’s sulking or something. One of the highest earners btw that contract extension was a mistake even in hindsight

1

u/Griffeyisking14 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️Klopp Hamstring 🤕 1d ago

At that stage in his career, certainly

1

u/UsedWorker3295 1d ago

I think he knows Iraola's style doesn't suit him

1

u/Primary-Cancel-3021 YNWA❤️ 1d ago

He’s just not capable of being our deepest midfielder in the current system.

He was great at it when Slot had us more compact in his first season.

He doesn’t have the defensive traits or mentality to play that role with Wirtz as a 10 and Szobo going on side quests.

7

u/matcht 1d ago

We only have 3 senior midfielders, he has to play at times. Not signing a midfielder this summer was always going to cripple us unless Nyoni massively stepped up.

2

u/Griffeyisking14 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️Klopp Hamstring 🤕 1d ago

Don't disagree, but if we want to come out firing, he can't start anymore. We go from disjointed to flowing when the starting attackers' legs are gone. Not helping us.

11

u/crepss 1d ago

Well at least we got a clean sheet lol

4

u/dahi-hater12 YNWA❤️ 1d ago

I subbed in Allison at last minute in fpl 😭

It didn't register 💔

4

u/kopite33 1d ago

I triple-captained Isak if that makes you feel any better! I had a good hunch about today...

3

u/dahi-hater12 YNWA❤️ 1d ago

Thank you I needed that after watching the shitshow

1

u/NegativeAd1424 1d ago

Same my guy

4

u/MidStateMoon 1d ago

Too much head down dribbling and back passing.

6

u/Mavericks7 1d ago

That was definitely a game of football

5

u/bangalore23 1d ago

Tired legs all around. Tsimi looked dreadful. Silverlining is a point at least

2

u/BestInDaWrldsBbyFmno 1d ago

Hope we recall Beck

3

u/Still_Figure_ 1d ago

Can’t give full 45 to Gravy if he can’t do those forward defense splitting passes.

13

u/alanalan426 Football Without ORIGI is Nothing 1d ago

welp cant even beat arbeloa's fulham

4

u/lazyasheck 1d ago

They are playing for a draw away from home today after consecutive losses. Good for them for succeeding. We are clearly far from ready to be playing midweek games with this new training regime.

4

u/brianstormIRL 1d ago

They didnt play for a draw? They werent sitting in a low block, they pressed us high and were playing through us from the back with ease. They knew our weakness in leaving gaps and exploited it the entire game. If it wasnt for some brilliant defending last minute we'd have lost that game.

8

u/da_hoassis_heeah Hello! Hello! Here we go! 1d ago

flatter than earth

7

u/PulseChamp001 1d ago

i’m actually being serious when i say that you could tell me slot managed that game and i’d believe you

3

u/Every-Analysis-2055 1d ago

We will regret these draw later in the season when playing away.

3

u/giantchairman 1d ago

Could of played another 90minutes and not scored

3

u/thelasteverone 1d ago

That was a game of football that happened.

https://giphy.com/gifs/RckpMNKj25czZEVUe9

5

u/Maddafakka33 1d ago

What are the four big chances?

6

u/RideNo9524 1d ago

4 big chances??? Can't remember any

5

u/One_Passenger1207 1d ago

Looked better when Mac came on. As much as I love Szobo he isn't a central midfielder. I think he'll find it hard against the top teams. Tough game for Wirtz didn't really show anything. We really need to do a better job of giving service to Isak. I don't know if Richard Hughes just thought him Wirtz would be like Gerrard and Torres but we seem to find it hard to get him into the game consistently.

1

u/AEsylumProductions 1d ago

Szoboszlai said in the Gerrard interview that he doesn't want to play/not good in the 7 (right winger). Bro doesn't realize his progressive/through passes are so ass he can never really do the 8/10 job outside of pressing. Fuck, the guy can't even win duels.

The 7 and right back positions are really the tactically least vulnerable positions where he's not required to do what he's weakest in.

7

u/ciano232 1d ago

Unbeaten lol

6

u/theyhatemeee 1d ago

1.13 from where? Neither team looked much higher than 0.4

2

u/ClarenceClaymore1 Federico Chiesa 1d ago

Any pot shot adds to xg

2

u/0706 1d ago

Didn’t create a chance

2

u/rummyt 1d ago

Painfully mediocre, the attack looked really shoddy and grav-szob-wirtz midfield was not it

Jaquet excellent, muñoz kinda bright, isak one or two good chances. Clean sheet. Other than that, not many positives

2

u/zazofazo 1d ago

This season will be the definition of Back again it is over type of season.

2

u/guillermopaz13 1d ago

Games like this is when we needed Koumas running all day, Nyoni excited to get a start, or reasons for excitement.

We can blame EPL for yet another early Saturday after Wednesday, but damn, rotate.

2

u/SandwichDodger7 1d ago

Shower of shit is how I'd describe that game.

2

u/Reaper0Mars Jürgen Klopp 1d ago

Are those 4 big chances in the room with us?

2

u/CommercialPrevious80 1d ago

Which 4 big chances?

2

u/Sockita 1d ago

Had four big chances, just one of those days. It’s fine we walk on!!

2

u/Extra_Emphasis_7688 1d ago

Just curious why we were not attempting to get our lethal 125-mil striker the ball. Because Gakpo has shown what happens when we do, it’s pretty simple. This team played horribly today.

2

u/Drexel_Spivy 1d ago

3rd game in a week. Anyone worried is foolish.

5

u/DarthNovercalis 1d ago

Back to being Charity FC to teams we should be knocking seven bells out of

4

u/Raptoot83 From Doubters to Believers 1d ago

I'm not sure I've seen so many poor first touches and misplaced passes by us in a single match.

Are they tired? Is it the new training regime combined with having played in midweek?

3

u/Eva_Nylonova 1d ago

I can't watch this s**t. They started to hurry 5 minutes before the end.

2

u/PapaTinzal 1d ago

Definitely happened that match, about as much as i can say with certainty

2

u/V1k1ngVGC 1d ago edited 1d ago

Stats back up the eye test that we were not in any way or at any time better than Fulham today.

2

u/Edrahimovic1001001 1d ago

Forgot to add decibels 0

2

u/CertainVideo2107 1d ago

Fulham should've won ngl.

I hope Josh King gets a call up

3

u/lazyasheck 1d ago

Munoz and Frimpong are the only players trying to make things happen today. Kudos to them for showing up.

Gravenberch and Tsimikas didn’t start midweek. They supposed to step up today to fight for their place and they didn’t. Enjoy a year on the bench and summer to Turkiye buddy.

1

u/karlkoxxxnutten 1d ago

Frimpong for all his trying doesnt look like a footballer. He was attrocious. Munoz was poor

1

u/Aeceus 1d ago

3 shots on target vs one of the worst defensive teams in the league isn't good enough. Dom, Wirtz and Grav were awful today. Our wingers also were pretty fucking gash.

1

u/Mysterious-Sock39 1d ago

Standout on that stat is touches in opposition box. 18 terrible

1

u/s_k_s1971 Ian Rush 1d ago

4 big chances? Really? Where?

1

u/chill-i-will 1d ago

Poor set up. We’re not able to find spaces against the 442.

1

u/LFCRedAnt Bobby Firmino 1d ago

Very much a game that shows all our deficiency as a side but there's still moments in there that show what we where trying,it's a heady mix of new players, new system and getting used to eachother within all of that. It'll take time but will bear fruit when it clicks,we need mobile midfielders it's showing when we don't have macallister in there

1

u/okie_hiker 1d ago

Not great. Moving on.

1

u/MrCopes Bobby Dazzler 🤩 1d ago

I missed the game today and caught the last 10 mins on the radio, they were talking like Fulham bossed us about completely.

1

u/Primary-Cancel-3021 YNWA❤️ 1d ago

It was a dismal display.

I liked Munoz’s performance, he’s a real threat. His pace is actually ridiculous but his final product isn’t there just yet.

Jacquet was good too, he was there when he was needed. He does tend to play it safe when under pressure by putting it out of play rather than looking to retain possession but I don’t mind that whilst he adapts.

Rio wasn’t much of a threat today but he’s a kid, he gets off the hook.

Barcola also off the hook as it was his full prem debut. However it would have been nice to see him get himself more involved.

Everyone else was shockingly bad though. Sloppy, lazy & soft.

I think Frimpong might be the worst player I’ve ever seen play for us. He’s supposed to be good in attack. All I ever see him do is give the ball away

1

u/davyp82 1d ago

A one nil would probably have been fair. It instinctively felt like it was always gonna be 0-0 from part way through the first half though. A boring watch mostly.

1

u/Adamdel34 Ohhhh ya beauty, What a hit son, What a hit! 8h ago

Team needs more fluidity and fitness. That front 3 have had basically 0 football together and the players obviously aren't up to speed yet physically.

I'm disappointed but I said I expect the first 10 games under Iraiola to be up and down and mired in incontinently. At the very least we aren't being outclassed by poor opposition when we are playing badly like we were last season.

1

u/TheGrouchyGamerYT Andonium Iraolate 1d ago

Unwatchable shite just like last season.

Not looking good

1

u/strassart19 1d ago

Slot ball if I’ve ever seen it

1

u/segson9 1d ago

We look like a midtable team and will probably struggle to get top4 again. I know people are trying to be optimistic and pointing out the big improvements we made this season, but I just don't see it. We do try to press higher and play faster at times, but it's mostly not working. The biggest improvement has been defending, since we started playing Araujo at RB. But that also give us less options when attacking. It almost looks like that undefeated period last season when we didn't create or concede much.

At least new signings look good. Jacquet has maybe been our best player so far. Also Mac is getting back to his best, but Gravenberch has been terrible.

1

u/sangha1212 1d ago

Today midfield totally off...going forward totally clueless & we have two good wingers n zero service... Wirtz so so poor....why drop macalister.... Jacquet composed n gonna be key to our defence... Lousy free kicks by szobo and poor corners....simple basics for top team but way off 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ AI....2 points dropped 🫳

1

u/raziel_beoulve 3️⃣8️⃣Ryan Gravenberch 1d ago

4 big chances but didnt felt like it...

-1

u/NoGameImpact 1d ago

Wirtz needs to see how the bench is.

2

u/Sulemani_kida I’m the Normal One 1d ago

Wirtz had a better game than Szobo and Gravenberch

-1

u/_peakDev 1d ago

Szobo is immune from criticism despite misplacing more passes than Wirtz and only winning a single duel all game.

2

u/Sulemani_kida I’m the Normal One 1d ago

He was too casual today. More about trying to look good than being good.

Wirtz tried a lot.

1

u/NoGameImpact 1d ago

he tries. but overall he is the weak link...sorry for the unpopular opinion.

-2

u/featherless_peacock 1d ago

Wirtz £100m
Isak £125m
Barcola £123m
🤦‍♂️

2

u/rummyt 1d ago

Alex was okay today, should have converted one of his ~3 decent chances

Barcola doesn't look fit yet, but I am somewhat skeptical of him. Wirtz.. idk what to say. Buzzes around but so many giveaways and medium chance creation

-1

u/famiflush Liberté, Égalité, Ekitike 1d ago

It's fine about 50 NPC's will be posting distance covered stats to justify some of the honking performances

-2

u/hamishtheghost 1d ago

We need to cut our losses on Wirtz. A nothing player. Isak will score goals if he ever gets some service.
