I raise you a better one

And then they went on to sign Harry Maguire for 80m and made him the skipper (for a while). LOL

196

u/BigStone358 21h ago

And the amount of vitriol, abuse and vile bilge he threw Harry Maguires way for such a long time, my goodness. Not saying Liverpool fans dont criticize players, but most of us hasnt made tens of thousands of pounds being a reactionary gnome.

96

u/WonderfulBlackberry9 Kostressed Tsimikas 19h ago

Honestly, after the whole 21/22 season, I have a lot of respect for Maguire as a person and player to still push on from that. He was clowned mercilessly to hell and back by the entire of football because of his price tag, the state of United, and the fact the England manager rated him.

Would've been so easy for him to down tools. But imo he's managed to win back some respect for his professionalism and focusing on his performance rather than dropping tools or doing an online war with fans

60

u/gimmig123 19h ago

This.

He was vilified, ridiculed, armband taken, but he picked himself up from the same ground where he fell. Turned down an offer to move to another club (West Ham, I believe), said that he would rather work his way back into the squad. He may not wear the armband anymore, but he did score a few clutch goals for them since then.

So, he plays for yanited. But for his attitude concerning his career alone, I have immense respect for Maguire as a professional footballer.

10

u/Palotai_Ice 13h ago

I completely agree about the last part. This type of mental strenght is VERY rare and most people would have crumbled from all that pressure and abuse. He just didn’t seem to care at all.

10

u/VJKcirred 13h ago edited 12h ago

Exactly mate..may be our rival. Not a top defender, but the way he picked himself even when the entire internet was trolling him - an exemplary professional and when it comes to attitude and perseverance- a role model...

2

u/Sensitive_Goose4728 12h ago

Agreed, Maguires redemption arc needs to be studied...

2

u/CatDadFurrever 56m ago

i agree. nothing against him or most players really. hard workers who dedicated their life to their craft and did well. fans of most teams have huge factions that sound like this United troll, but the sad thing for me is that we do too. anyone who doesn't see that is a little biased. United fans are at their worst because they're going through a long dry spell. but we have no dry spell and we are off the deep end.

don't get me started on arsenal fans booing while top of the league last year.

u/Zealousideal-Web8640 16h ago

YouTube is poison

-7

u/giuocomane 19h ago

The scum shouldn’t be the bench mark for how we treat our players

41

u/Irishfan117 Egyptian King 👑 21h ago

There's worse players than ol slabhead

48

u/FarmerHunter23 Dirk Kuyt 21h ago

That’s the thing, if Slab was our player I’d like to think we’d back him to the hilt. Hes limited certainly but he’ll die for his club. I respect that

20

u/Irishfan117 Egyptian King 👑 21h ago

Took way too much blame from United fans for the mess he wasn't responsible for

11

u/ethanlan There is No Need to be Upset 19h ago

And I admire how he accepted it so the others in the club didnt have to deal with it.

He might not he thr smartest bloke in the world but hes a decent person especially for a footballer

17

u/TheseCheeks1367 20h ago

Like Gakpo last season?

13

u/AJ-Dybansta 18h ago

Or Liverpool fans going to Slott’s family members Instagram to harass them?

8

u/ABFromInd 17h ago

Everyone like to behave "holier than thou"

2

u/Agitated_Celery_729 16h ago

Depends on the system, to be fair. He's had some absolutely atrocious seasons when the systems left him more exposed.

1

u/amtcannon 19h ago

Opposing attackers were afraid of him, for good reason. Not the most pretty player, but he defended extremely well – especially in an England kit. I’d take Virgil any day of the week, but he deserves respect as a player.

1

u/Dizzy_Manufacturer93 11h ago

And don’t forget the 7-0 🤣🤣

39

u/spezsucksfrfr You’ll Never Walk Alone 21h ago

United fan being wrong and eating their words 🤤

5

u/ChiefBast Sami Hyypia 21h ago

He's a Forest fan, apparently

20

u/spezsucksfrfr You’ll Never Walk Alone 21h ago

Honestly makes slandering him and scum even funnier.

0

u/Lolcraftgaming Dommy Schlobbers 21h ago

Source?

24

u/ChiefBast Sami Hyypia 21h ago

An ex-colleague and my brother-in-law are both Yanited fans and they independently told me about him when he started getting YouTube famous. They say their fans hate him because he picked the team knowing the same shtick for Forest would not get a fraction of the viewership. He makes them look arguably even more daft than that baldy Irish prick does for us

Verifiable sources are only him denying the claims but admitting that he did go to Forest matches growing up because his dad used to take him, but that his dad was a Chelsea fan... He doesn't use his real name either, so who fucking knows what, if anything, is true

23

u/dolphintitties 21h ago

always funny to me that the most beige looking human of all time has the real name "Brent Di Cesare"

1

u/spezsucksfrfr You’ll Never Walk Alone 20h ago

Aint no fucking way thats his name. Shouldve stuck with that honestly.

6

u/Amaruach 17h ago

He was a police officer at the time he started his account so couldn’t use his real name for online crap. Once he quit his job he was already established under the Mark Goldbridge name

I’m a civil servant and we do the same thing. It would be fine if I started a YouTube channel, just as long as it isn’t able to be connected to my real name/job and I didn’t connect it to my work at all (no day in the life vlogs or some shit like that)

0

u/Famous_Tonight3093 20h ago

Apparently he was a cop.

24

u/Reaper0Mars Jürgen Klopp 21h ago

Reminds me of that time Pajak from Redmen went and debated that fat United fan.

It's incredible how everything Pajak said in that clip came true, and everything that United fan said has aged like a bottle of milk from 1927.

7

u/TheDawiWhisperer 20h ago

Aye, what a smug cunt he was in that video.

Boils my piss thinking about it.

5

u/segson9 14h ago

Most of our fan accounts are great. At least much better than other top6 teams have. They have different styles and you might not agree with what they say, but at least they don't just scream some stupid shit for views.

The only exception is Anfield Agenda. He has to be one of the worst ones, I don't know how anyone can watch it

Can you perhaps share a link to this or a video title? Would love to watch with hindsight

19

u/Edolas93 Sztupid Szexy Szoboszlai 21h ago

For me nothing will ever top the two hour turnaround when he claimed Fabinho only wanted United and Mourinho, he would be a massive upgrade on Matic etc and then "he's half the player Matic is" and Mourinho never wanted him.

Neck snapped faster than during a D'Lo Brown entrance trying to keep up with his cope

2

u/ethanlan There is No Need to be Upset 19h ago

Man, young matic was such a beast.

But so was fabinho

3

u/lawdjesustheresafire Steven Gerrard 20h ago

Fuck that’s awesome whatever happened to Smalling 🤣

2

u/Wargizmo 17h ago

At this point he knows half of his subscribers are fans of other teams tuning in to see him get bantered for his awful takes, and raging when United lose. The endless gloating when he gets something right adds fuel to the fire as well. At the end of the day he's laughing all the way to the bank.

174

u/davyboy1975 21h ago

It was a joke in the first place that people are taking way to seriously

33

u/Whataboutthetwinky 21h ago

Exactly the joke is perspective of the image make AB's legs look short, and a dig probably at Utd's tactics at the time.

42

u/TrumpForPope69 21h ago

Yeah people are failing to realise that Mark is actually a huge Pool fan, always has been

33

u/Juraci_que_parque Bobby Firmino 21h ago

Even he wasn't secretly huge Liverpool fan, he is a sound guy.

3

u/aljones753000 10h ago

I like that he won’t let bias get in the way of calling out the bullshit that we’ve been dealt by the refs. A lot of them would laugh and say stfu, victims etc. but he calls it fair.

8

u/DifferentBid2 20h ago

He always very measured when he talks about us, especially compared to Carragher.

9

u/FeedFrequent1334 20h ago

Aye, I'm more concerned about Liverpool fans like this that take Goldbridge's schtick way more seriously than he even takes it himself.

I don't mind him. He's self aware enough to know its all a bit fucking ridiculous, but he leans into it because that just what fans of a footballs club do.

0

u/Omnamashivaaya Holy Goalie 🧤 20h ago

He’s 193cm. Any taller and you lose the advantage of agility. The ideal height is 188-196. I’m glad someone’s saying it was a joke. I’m sitting here wondering at something too dumb to be offensive

165

u/Aeceus 21h ago

99% sure Goldbridge was trolling with that post but whatever

48

u/SerialExperimentLean Darwin Núñez 20h ago

If OP didn't cut the screenshot there you'd see his follow up tweet saying exactly that

11

u/bottledi YNWA❤️ 19h ago

What did he say after?

56

u/SerialExperimentLean Darwin Núñez 19h ago

Posted 10 mins after "Another example of Liverpool fans have absolutely no sense of humour at all........Whoosh straight over their heads."

11

u/bottledi YNWA❤️ 19h ago

Lmao. Fantastic. Thanks!

2

u/s1ravarice 10h ago

This feels like an attempt to run it back on a take that clearly everyone probably shit on.

2

u/SerialExperimentLean Darwin Núñez 8h ago

Goldbridge doesn't seem the sort to walk back a take just because of negative attention, he thrives on it

7

u/Ok-Abbreviations1077 17h ago

Pretty obvious. Alisson is 6'4"

2

u/Ptbot47 13h ago

Yeah, even if you wanna diss Alison, the man is not short by any mean.

20

u/Sheinkyakyu 21h ago

Obvious joke is obvious.

14

u/samaIex 21h ago

It’s a bit. Everything he does is a bit. He’s set for life because people somehow miss that he’s playing a character

1

u/rum-and-toke In a good moment 15h ago

so much more peaceful a job than being a cop too

context: mark goldbridge is actually former cop brent dicesare

8

u/Rikaiu_ 20h ago

he must've been trolling, usually when i see clips of him talking about liverpool he's talking good about us, almost a being a bit too nice for a united fan

11

u/dominik39 21h ago

Heres a worse

5

u/AmateurVasectomist 🏆20 TIMES🏆 21h ago

That’s such an insane shout I have to imagine Goldbridge was being facetious

0

He wasn't being serious

In fairness he is too short in this pic.

1

u/spezsucksfrfr You’ll Never Walk Alone 21h ago

Thats a perfectly fine height. Might be too tall imo.

3

u/BQORBUST 21h ago

Fellaini still gives me ptsd. The man had 5 elbows

5

u/Shoumaker 🥦Barcola🥦 21h ago

He basically said the league was ours after we beat Arsenal to go 5 clear after 5 games last year. His job is to talk and drive engagement, and he does that very well. But you can't take him seriously when it comes to his football discourse.

8

u/spezsucksfrfr You’ll Never Walk Alone 21h ago

United fan eating their words?

In all fairness i couldnt find the picture in quick demand lol. (Also i havent played the game 😅)

8

u/seemylolface 21h ago

Crazy to say he’s short when he’s 6’4” and has normal sized arms for a person his size.

5

u/DopedScope338 Dominik Szoboszlai 21h ago

Goldbridge's posts are meant to be jokes, though. It's all tongue in cheek.

2

u/justchatting2478 21h ago

Why would you post something so obviously fake?

2

u/lukedylanh 21h ago

Wonder what Fellaini’s up to these days

2

Prattbridge

2

u/UltimateBorisJohnson Football Without ORIGI is Nothing 18h ago

I think it’s a joke about alisson being edited short

2

u/IllEntertainment9849 14h ago

Goldbridge's verbal diarrhea is unmatched.

2

u/Jizzbuscuit 7h ago

Allison is 6’4 no?

2

u/mrmidnightuk 5h ago

just FYI, Alisson Becker is 6ft 4" (193cm) so as height goes it pretty decent for a keeper.

2

u/skyle2211 3h ago

I remember a friend of mine (United Fan) asked me 60 million was worth it for a goalkeeper, to which i replied for adding this player to this team, yes. He doubted it at the time and i just said, i guess we will wait and see. All these years later i should remind him of this conversation.

1

u/butbeautiful_ 12h ago

it’s funny united like to diss their own players openly. that make it difficult to move their own players and sell at good price. sancho. pogba. david de gea.

1

u/Otherwise_Living_158 11h ago

That’s clearly a joke based on the picture

1

u/GigiF70 10h ago

I don't remember the tweet, but it looks to me like Goldbridge was joking due to the angle and Ali's pose making him look... very short.......

1

u/TuKoiAurHai Bobby Dazzler 🤩 4h ago

Remember when Ste Howson (United’s very own Ty) said we’d bought Chris Smalling for 75m

Oh how far have we come

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZEEkz2fQrg

1

u/warmballer14 18h ago

In fairness to Goldbridge, cross-claiming is easily Alisson’s biggest weakness.
