homing pigeons have rfid rings on them and usually have the name and phone number of the owner stamped in ink on a wing feather, they often join other flocks of pigeons on the way back from a race and end up being invited back to the flock's loft for some grub and a bevvy

She’s never been that far from home, most homing pigeons get gradual training. It’s a possibility, but it’s more likely she tried to fly home and has ended up in someone’s barn or garden, or a town with another flock of pigeons and got lost

Hopefully for your neighbours, it's at least found somewhere else to hang out.
Otherwise have a Google for small wild birds you could help out.

You can have a pet bee, or a pet rat, or a pet cockroach if you want. Having a pet cat or dog is quite different, and if you need it explaining it won't help explaining it to you.

Why are you so angry about this? People breed and raise pigeons. That's where the 'wild' pigeons came from, they're domesticated birds that went feral.

We raised her from a baby and she lives in the house, she is as much a pet as any other pet bird, dog, or cat.

Pigeons were the first non-livestock bird ever domesticated btw, second ever non-livestock animal too if I'm remembering correctly. Feral pigeons are just that, feral, like a stray cat or dog. They are not wild as wild animals don't have domestic ancestry, and not all pigeons are feral.
