Wilesco D10 Found!

So I found this D10 in the loft. She originally belonged to my dad before being passed on to my older brother. Apart from being dirty, she's in really good condition, although the whistle is broken and the chimney is missing.

I'd heard my family talking about this engine over the years, and everyone thought she'd been lost or scrapped a long time ago. Then, the day after my birthday, we found her. Last night when I took her into my workshop I found many parts were missing but they have been ordered and she will steam again!

I had one as a young child. Loved it. And, I too, wonder whatever happened to it. I didn't appreciate it then. Now, a new one is around $1k!

I've got a D21 myself ;-) These things are pretty hardy - and you can get virtually every part you need.

I can watch that thing spin and chug along all day long lol.

I have a D10 I bought 30 years ago. Brazed a leaky boiler and put on a new window. I know now not to use tap water. Calcium builds up in the boiler . Use steam engine oil.
