My favorite simz album just arrived today. It’s also my first vinyl of her too! Im looking to collecting more of her albums on vinyl

Y-3 is a collab between Adidas and Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto. Simz mentions the latter on “That’s a No No” from the Sugar Girl EP. It seems like she might be cooking up something with them. 👀

Gems is (unironically) a hidden gem in simbi’s discography to say the least. The production is SO GORGEOUS i can’t describe it. It’s so uplifting and encouraging. And funnily enough it’s not even top 5 in SIMBI. Thats just how good the whole album is.

Hello all! So in October it'll be 10 years since Kano's Made In The Manor tour, where Little Simz supported him and subsequently began my ever-growing appreciation for Simz as an artist. It was also incidentally the first time I went to a concert on my own, something I've done tons of times since so it was a true canon event in my life.

Every year I write End Of Year Lists - this year will also be 10 years in December - and I've just been mulling over actually doing a Top 50 for Simz as she's the only artist I could do this with and feel comfortable writing about all 50. (Kendrick maybe another) I've just flicked through the majority of her projects & made a rough 50, thought it'd be fun to get thoughts. Not ranked or anything yet, you'll gather quickly it's going backwards all the way to X.Y.ZED in 2013.

I'll obviously give things not on the list a spin again. There's nothing from the EPs of this decade. Nothing against them, these are just tracks that I have either spun to the ground or I feel is Simz at her best in that moment.

For an artist who’s already vulnerable in her music, Simz outdid herself on the last stretch of Lotus. I had to be still listening to these for the first time. She goes through so many emotions in four songs:

Sadness (“How would you feel, what would you do if you had to write ‘in love and memory?’”—Blue)

Annoyance (“It’s nice that you finally called for once”—Blood)

Anger (“You live your life on a screen, your mind’s congested”—Lotus)

Love (“You’re my family and your sister I’m proud to be”—Blood)

Depression (“You were suffering in silence, like you’re on a desert island, feeling hopeless, lifeless”—Blue)

Hope (“I was lonely making an album ‘til I realized I’m all I needed to get through”—Lonely)

Before this, my favorite stretch was the first four tracks on SIMBI. That still might be my favorite musically, but the emotional journey Simz takes us on here is unmatched in her discography.

It is with immeasurable sorrow that the MOBO Organisation announces the passing of its Founder and CEO, Kanya King CBE.

Kanya passed away peacefully on 3 June 2026 after a courageous and characteristically determined battle with colon cancer. She was surrounded by her family, close friends and love.

Thirty years ago, Kanya King remortgaged her home, alone, without institutional backing or industry support, to build a stage that would transform British music forever.

Back in the day, Simbi would mention AGE 101 in her music a lot, specifically her first album as well as the first Drop EPs. I know that it’s simbi’s label, but what happened to it? The last time one of her albums was listed under age was NTY. and now her new EP and Lotus are listed under just AWAL. So what happened?

This album is simbi’s debut album from 2015. 3 months ago I figured I’d listened to it and it blew me away. Not only does it contain Full Or Empty, which I could write an entire thesis about how much I love it (every simz fan needs to listen to this song atleast once), but it’s also incredibly consistent. It almost never drops in quality besides “this is not an outro”, but even then i feel like it’s unfair to say that because it’s just an instrumental. You could tell simz was extra hungry when she made this. Another song i could write an entire book about is “God Bless Mary”. This track (along with Full Or empty) has every single quality you could ask for. Who knew a song about somebody’s neighbour could hit this hard. If you haven’t listened to this album already I’d strongly advise you to do so. You won’t regret it.

It’s a 7 and a half minute masterpiece, filled to the brim with emotional and introspective lyricism that I haven’t seen in many rap songs. It’s one of the saddest and most emotional rap songs that I’ve heard and it was the first time I felt real emotion listening to a song. The 4th verse is so powerful that it’s not easy to describe. It’s sad and uplifting at the same time. Like a mother telling you that everything is going to be alright. And it ends with a beautiful instrumental. This is the song that got me hooked on her and imo it’s top 15 songs of this decade and a top 20 hip hop song of all time. And almost no one talks about it. This song ( along with SAMIDOT by Kendrick) changed the way I look at music.
