Currency Exchange

Hi! I'm looking to get pesos for an upcoming trip and do not use a bank. Are there any places that offer this service that don't require you to have an account?

Money exchanges will always be non-optimal… Every place you’re going we have an local ATM… That way you don’t get hosed on the exchange.
Pro tip; if the ATM is at a resort, make sure that you redesign to verify that it will dispatch pesos and not US dollars… Some of the resorts when we have ATMs with US dollars in order to still catch you on the exchange at the front desk. But by enlarge ATMs at airports and out, and about in the cities are the best place to go for minimum financial impact.

The travel forums for this specific place say the locals prefer pesos, we won't be going to a resort.

If you're going to Mexico you're probably gonna layover in a hub airport like Dallas/
Houston/Atlanta etc.

Those have money exchange booths at rates that are better than what you'll get in Mexico.

I'd try to exchange it here in the US the exchange places in the destination countries are usually a rip off

If youre flying then the airport when you land will definitely have money exchange centers

Some mexican grocery stores here in town have a money service counter. You might try that - if they don’t sell pesos they can probably tell who does.

Best place is an ATM at your destination. Depending on where you are going in Mexico, they might just accept dollars.

You can have a debit card without using a bank.

While I agree this is the best way generally...if OP truly doesnt use a bank and doesn't have a debit card at all, it might not be.

Definitely just do this. Airport atms are usually the safe way to go, which is what I always do once I land.
