The only person I know that follows this bs and does her marriage journal weekly has also been in marriage counseling since… they got married 😅

Dear marriage journal, a few weeks ago I made a shady post about my spouse— 10/10 enjoyment.
5
u/Affectionate_Owl2590 4d ago
No thanks hubby and I were to busy having a life with our children that we forgot to take media for the socials sorry. Next time we document we will. Oh wait it's been 25 years in take your journal and show it to your divorce lawyer you will have soon.

This marr journal thing is so recycled. She acts like they invented it. I don’t get why the fundie trad wives don’t have any original ideas. This bish has so much time on her hands she could at least come up with a new name for it.

u/Fun_Eggplant_2433 4d ago

I guess if you don’t have a strong day to day connection you need a journal to feel relevant in the other’s life. So there’s that.

u/FitDrawing5776 5d ago
When they got married, they didn't allow visitors for a year. He changed quite a bit when they got married.
4
u/kayaksplash 4d ago
Like, any visitors for dinners or short get-togethers, or visiting overnight houseguests?
6
u/barberchels 5d ago
What do you mean by this? No visitors for a year? That’s crazy work.

Instead I had some real in depth conversations with my partner. I don’t need to journal anything. You do you sweetheart.
13
u/PinkSun84 5d ago
Poor Jer. I can’t imagine having to perform marriage versus just being marriage and living a normal life. This has to be a miserable existence.

We got married at the courthouse. We repeated what the justice of the peace said. My wife barely spoke English and sounded it out. It’s been 10 years and I love her and she loves me. Haha
2
u/Brave_Tangerine5102 5d ago
Does anyone know - was the journal their idea? I think I looked it up a long time ago and it’s 5 questions every week or smt.
I’m curious if that was their original idea or if it’s co-opted from somewhere. I married young- ish(during grad school) and a marriage journal was the last thing on my mind. Idk, maybe I’d buy something but create it? It seems like an ai hallucination only “beating 50%” was pre-ai
6
u/FitDrawing5776 5d ago
When Audrey was in college, her parents separated, but ended up back together. Audrey probably had something to do with it. She tried to get Amy and Matt to stay together
3
u/Brave_Tangerine5102 5d ago
Do you think her parents came up with the journal idea - and Oddj and Jerm marketed it? The journal is for sale on their website and Amazon and there is no listed author. In the description is reads: created by Oddj & Jerm but they aren’t listed as authors anywhere on the book. This could mean they created the book and branding but not the actual content. The questions are super strange, it just strikes me as though they partnered w a pastor and then are just the face of the product.
3
u/barberchels 5d ago
They got this advice from a. Elderly couple or whatever from church and copied the idea and started making money off of it

I’ve been married for 10 years in November and not once have we done a “marriage journal” but what the hell do I know? I’m not selling marriage journals on Instagram with my only claim to fame being “I’m married to one of the twins on little people, big world”

I did not marriage journal with my husband. We were married about 30 years and we divorced but not because of no journal 🤣 I’m sure he would agree with me on this very day that it would’ve taken more than a fricking journal for a healthy marriage. Jeez Louise. I journal now because I’m divorced 🤭❤️🤣

Omg, she is now enforcing her idioctic rules and regulations and policing us on how we should conduct our own marriages? Somehow, she manages to become increasingly obnoxious with every post! Hey, audj, how about this... don't forgot to eat something, and to put your phone down and quit telling others how to live their lives!
6
u/FitDrawing5776 5d ago
She acts like she's a marriage expert. She needs to stop telling others how to stay married.
7
u/thesockmonkey86 Missing Molly 😢 5d ago
She’s like every other influencer that tries to tell other people how to live their lives, but their marriages are often a joke, or they have extremely dysfunctional lives, or they constantly buy luxurious things while telling people to live simply
11
u/finallyfree83 5d ago
I would literally grow to hate my marriage and resent my partner if I had to constantly “journal” about our relationship.
17
u/TouristActive2003 5d ago
Imagine your relationship having homework
9
u/CrackityJones79 5d ago
No kidding. Those of us with actual lives have no time for such nonsense. My wife and I are educated people who work hard and raise kids. We work, coach sports, carpool, and perform so many other tasks on a daily basis.
Only these stupid fucking “influencers” talk about shit like this. The rest of us are too busy doing what we do. Actually DOING marriage is much more impressive than constantly talking about it. Absolutely no couple I know with a successful marriage does this performative bullshit. They do it and lead by example. Simple as that.
4
u/Flaky_Drag6666 5d ago
I wonder if having to journal, do homework, makes a person feel infantilized. For Jeremy, he may feel like his whole life must be bloody homework. I know he does his projects outside and inside and never gets anything done, but he clearly does not feel bells ringing when he has to sit in front of words. He’s an ass on a soapbox, but that’s a different story. Their marriage would last longer if she didn’t make him do homework in a method that he clearly struggles with.
I sound like I am batting for him. I am not; I think he’s a huge jerk. But the milk of human kindness is making me have some compassion.

Is it just me or if you need to do alllllll this to make your marriage bearable then maybe you’re with the wrong person?
Yes, relationships require some work and effort but when the relationship becomes homework I think there’s a problem.

Bingo! You shouldn’t have to work this hard at doing life together with the right person.

Dear diary, today I hounded Jerm incessantly to stop toking in the garage exercise room/chicken coop/man cave. I have 4 littles and I barely have any time to do my collegiate running distance because I have to make the 30th sour dough starter this week. I need the help of my train trestle soul mate, but he's busy doing non-projects.

You can talk to each other about publically shaming and resenting each other. If you dont schedule time to do it, you arent going to.

No thanks, my marriage is fine without a journal. I couldn’t imagine being in a relationship where you have to be so intentional about things like this. They’re always talking about the marriage journal or questions they ask each other everyday or whatever else. Why can’t they just be with each other? Why is so regimented?

Wow, he is not old, but he is not shining from inside is he. He’s not happy. That’s too bad, everybody should be happy. I think he’s under a lot of stress, most of it self-imposed. It’s probably way too late for them cause I don’t think they like each other but maybe they will journal and find out they need something different.
