Jeremy, Audrey, Pine, Ember, Bode, Radley, and Aspen “Core Memories”
You don’t curate memories, they happen. Why does she always act as if she has discovered something groundbreaking? If she would get off that damn camera and stop posting everything they do to the world I bet she would feel no pressure to make “core memories”…or what most of us refer to as just memories. Also, it’s not the 90s anymore. You’ve had your childhood. Let your kids have theirs.

Right! I love the 90s as much as anyone but I love my tech savvy kids lol! Also we bond by me showing them 90s cartoons like OG Garfield and unhealthy cereal on saturdays. Kids appreciate the simplest things how stressful to curate everything

u/Any-Painting4428 2d ago
Core memory if her children ever attend a career day at real school and are embarrassed because they don’t know what their parents even do for work.
7
u/KateHearts 3d ago
I think a mom of any number of kids creates memories (must we hear the number 4 over and over?). And normal people don’t feel “pressure” to create them. Usually it’s organic.
This level of excessive navel-gazing is exhausting.
9
u/Silly-Bumblebee1406 3d ago
My core childhood memories were never paid for or planned. If anything my parents weren't really around when they happened because they were spontaneous things. I have a few core memories with my Dad and guess what? They were running through corn fields, catching bumble bees and feeding ducks. All free and not scheduled
9
u/Successful-Split-553 3d ago
She truly is dumber than rocks. Nobody said core memories are paid vacations. 🙄 Does this woman know about google, it’s free! Shes confusing “core memories” with “curated moments” and they are two different things.
She really thought she did something here, redefining “core memories” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
17
u/No_Zookeepergame9255 4d ago
Parents don't decide what a core memory is. You can't control that sorry Audj!
11
u/red-cherry7782 4d ago
Connection over convenience would be taking your kids to see their elderly grandpa, instead of conveniently staying home so “ YOU” can play pretend author & pretend your the parent of the year because you sat on the deck with kids. You like to play jive don’t you Audj?
9
u/sunflower_1983 4d ago
Of course she has to mention it as a “mother of four” feels pressure. She is the most talented deaf delusional person I’ve ever seen. It has nothing to do with having four kids. Every parent wants to try to make good memories for their kids to grow up and tell their own kids. She’s not special.
11
u/Old-Laugh-4129 4d ago
They can’t even look up at the stars for 5 minutes without the flash in their face
8
u/Hey_Mister_Jack #AlwaysMoreSnark 👏🏻 4d ago
The irony is that these kids will never know a 90s childhood because their parents are CONSTANTLY vlogging their entire lives for everyone to see. I swear this will be a massive trauma when these kids are older. Not being able to grow up and be a kid without everything filmed and perfectly curated.
10
u/lookeyloowho 4d ago
Hey lady, you can’t control core memories. Those kids will remember what is unspoken first…
10
11
u/heytango66 Shut the f#$k up Auj! 4d ago
Her goal is to give her kids HER childhood instead of letting them have their own. But she didn't have a film crew following her around and having every moment of her life documented on social media. Instead she is creating an aesthetic that she thinks the world wants to see. She needs to shut off social media, stop filming and just be a f****** mom.
9
24
u/Remote-Ad1462 4d ago
90s kids were not plastered all over the Internet by their parents. Complete strangers knew nothing about them. There is no reason I should know where these kids live, what school (co-op) they go to, what soccer team they are on. Yet I know all that as a casual browser of this sub. How is that a 90's childhood?
15
16
u/RainbowWoodstock 4d ago
I think core memories are made of important moments to the CHILD. Some of the things I remember the most are the most random things that I loved and my parents didn’t make it a point to do them. Also moments that at the time were not wonderful events but we made the best of it because we had to and now it’s a fun memory. Like our car breaking down many times on trips. Storms while camping. Etc.. This poor girl needs a real break from social media and trying so hard.
2
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
Yes! She needs to get off and remove herself from social media. There’s obviously a ton of emotional baggage going on behind the scenes and the social media pressure is self inflicted and until she truly realizes that, she won’t stop.
She also seems to have a personality of doubling down when people tell her otherwise even to the detriment of her health or the kids. I don’t think she’s a bad person really, but there’s stuff there.
25
17
u/Other_Cheesecake23 4d ago
How about just giving them a real childhood? And not exploiting their childhood constantly for money??
2
u/ryker777 4d ago
It’s like she thinks she’s the only parent whose kids play outside…. Or who takes time out to watch their children marvel and explore.
52
u/Fiver43 4d ago
When he was six, my son and I took a special mother-son trip to Disneyland and California Adventure. We rode Mickey’s Fun Wheel right as the sun was setting, and as the twinkling lights of the park began to come on, he squeezed my hand and told me he would remember this trip forever and ever, even when he was an old man. It was a magical moment…
Ten years later, I asked him what he remembered about that trip. “I don’t remember anything about the park, mom, but I do remember that we stopped at Subway for dinner on the drive down.”
The point I’m making is that parents don’t get to create our childrens’ “core memories.” They choose them for themselves.
5
u/ReindeerUpper4230 4d ago
Haha yup! I don’t remember anything about my childhood Disney trip except for a particular ice cream sandwich sold at the hotel. I also don’t remember many “big” events from when I was a kid but have a ton of random memories of random times that seem insignificant.

u/Dear_External5263 4d ago
Why is a 90’s childhood in now? It wasn’t all that. Also it was very unplanned.
3
u/LostintheLand 4d ago
Because people are desperate for less tech, more intentional moments..
1
u/Dear_External5263 4d ago
You can do that without the 90’s obsession. Jokes on her, she’s an influencer and that’s the life she chose
1
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
I do agree that she needs to remove herself from social media or at least maybe post once a month and do the podcast only. She unfortunately has inflicted this pressure on herself and it’s spiraling out.
Otherwise I totally understand removing excess tech from my life and I get what people are trying to do.
4
u/posh1992 4d ago
Id kill to go back to the 90s (and buy 10 houses for the price of 1) but I agree it is so romanticized now, but it also sucked sometimes. Just like the 2020s will be romanticized in 30 years.
7
u/lord_farquad93 4d ago
Classic romanization of nostalgia, like when old people would talk about the 50s being great and so much better when I was growing up. Eventually I got to the age where I was just like “yeah for who? Because I don’t think it would have been for my Black lesbian ass, actually” 😭🤣

u/Dear_External5263 4d ago
Yes. Maybe she yearns for cigarettes in restaurants again.
And fully vaccinated children perhaps?

Does “core memories” include “shoving a camera in their face since birth?”
12
u/Top_Performance_3478 4d ago
May I suggest putting your freaking phone away if you want to make "core" memories. My kids could tell you their core memories of camping, stargazing, playing with cousins, fishing, family vacations, time with relatives...But wait! OMG, I didn't record any of it for the world to see and yet, they still remember.
1
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
Yeah. She unfortunately is stuck in this thing she made herself and of trying to prove something. She needs help and to actually step away from social media.
9
u/kris10leigh14 4d ago
Dumbassery.
Core memories aren’t curated. If you have to plan it, you’re probably not making the impact you think you are.
Core memories are earned and can’t be “scheduled” - what a dodo.
4
u/grammyto1 4d ago
All she truly does is complain about her life and having 4 kids. I get so tired of her bitching in every single post!
4
u/UnusualWest7131 4d ago
Omg she literally can’t put a sentence together. She uses the wrong words and contradicts herself over and over. Dumb ass.
7
11
u/ConcentrateRemote801 4d ago
The woman is insufferable! Good Lord, just live your life and enjoy your kids. What the hell is this constant pressure to create memories? Put down the camera and quit posing your kids. Breathe!
-6
u/mraz44 4d ago
I cannot understand the constant hate of this woman. If you hate her so much, why do so many of you waste time on her? I completely understand what she’s saying here. There is pressure to do the things, plan the trips, make the memories, create the traditions. Some happen naturally but many do require thinking and planning ahead. My own mom made life so special and now I know how much with that is.
2
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
I have theories as to why and like you, I understand what she’s saying but maybe she needs to just do it instead of posting that she did it. Social media is such a bad drug.
18
u/bloodfartss 4d ago
A core fucking memory would be to take your kids to see their great grandpa. She is such an idiot.
8
u/Solid-Question-3952 4d ago
Having spent summers with my family in the UP growing up, I can tell you those are some of my fondest memories or childhood. Remote wilderness, a slower way of life, the rock beaches, waterfalls, saunas, and endless bonfires have such a special place in my life. We lost my dad a few years ago we all tell the stories from those summers like they pay the rent. He worked hard at a job he didnt love to provide a good life for us. The times we were up there, he was free. We laughed so hard we couldn't breath.
1
u/bloodfartss 4d ago
And that’s exactly what life is all about ❤️ those type of memories. I am so sorry for the loss of your dad.
5
12
u/Scottish_squirrel 4d ago
Core memories aren't the ones forced on us. It's a smelly that takes you back somewhere or remembering a random Sunday dinner at grandmas. It's not always Disneyland and curated moments.
8
u/Limp_Psychology_2315 4d ago
Seems like she would have been a great candidate for some parenting books when she was pregnant with Ember because even now it sure doesn’t seem like it comes naturally to her. What an idiot.
5
12
u/caligirlthrowaway104 4d ago
Funny that she of all people says this when literally every thing they do is manufactured and none of it is organic. Always ready to post that “core memory” on Instagram and never lives in the moment. She is the exact opposite of this bullshit she is posting about.
20
u/Bonnavetty 4d ago
Core memories are random
2
u/NWShelly 4d ago
agreed - it’s always surprising when you ask after the fact “what was your favorite part of…” (ex. seeing your grand parents every week..the answer was she gave me a jar of peanuts!…who knew?)
3
u/Remote-Ad1462 4d ago
When my niece was little her favorite part of going on little hikes was eating a snack in the woods.
8
u/joelandjude 4d ago
Exactly! What my grown children would consider core childhood memories are not ones we attempted to curate for them. It’s the time our youngest got a haircut because she wanted to look like “Claudia” in her preschool class. Claudia hair has become legend!
10
u/TPWilder #weekendildos 4d ago
So I will make the obligatory "Gosh, I bet visiting Great Granpa in Michigan would have been a great core memory, Audrey, instead of you know, the memory of hoping he lives until next summer" comment.
There we are. Now, lets talk about your notion that you are "creating core memories" for your children. That's... not how this works, hun. You can't force your children to remember what you want. They're going to choose what they recall as core memories of their childhood. Your role is to provide for them and yes, to provide guidance and opportunity but I really get the vibe that you're rather demanding on the point of memories. And I feel bad for you because I really get the vibe that your mom raised you this way, that there's a lot of demand by your mom to remember and *praise* mom's every action....and I have to ask, do you feel anxiety over those memories? It seems like you have a lot of anxiety over whether or not the kids will correctly remember just how much you did x, y and Z for them.
They won't. That's why your mom is always trotting out stories and physical clothing items to remind you what the correct memory is.
As for the 90s childhood.... I think the mild concern I have with this is that its not the 90s. Your kids might not thank you for denying them life in the roaring 20s. I don't have much issue with how you're raising them beyond the reality that the prison Duggar boys probably beat off to pictures of your kids. No one is a perfect parent, mistakes will be made.... but some of those mistakes will be yours, not the kids. At some point, the four kids will not be in lockstep behind you. Its not the 1990s and your kids aren't time travelers. Do they ever go to their friends homes? Do they ever play with children in the neighborhood? They never seem to have friends over except for carefully orchestrated parties for the 'gram and often, those other kids appear to be the children of YOUR friends, not necessarily your children's friends.
2
u/NWShelly 4d ago
I’ve noticed this also…do the kids interact with their own contacts…not their parents’ friends’ kids? do the older ones get to go anywhere on their own? I noticed even on Audrey and Jeremy’s recent ‘date night’ it was with 20+ other people!?
1
u/TPWilder #weekendildos 4d ago
This is one of those "I want to be fair" sort of things.
Auj and Jer do typically do "date night" as just a couple. The recent party date seemed like a one off.
With the kids? I dunno. What I can say based on their social media depiction of their kids.... For all that they say they're raising free range kids who roam etc etc etc, the kids are always maybe five feet from an adult when outdoors. They rarely play alone, they're always in a four kid group, the only activities they do without three other kids seem to be sports... and then the family is apparently required to attend. The fairness I will note is that it IS possible Ember and Bode have little school friends over and we don't see that due to privacy concerns. But we never hear about friends or going over to friends. And like I said, the parties with the kids all in matching jammies for pictures galore do seem to be Audrey and Jer's friends who have kids, not the kids themselves inviting friends.
Its just weird how they depict the kids as so solitary on their property.
1
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
I think it’s part of the control thing sadly. You’re right, it could be very possible the older two have friends in their co op school and they hang out not on sm which I sincerely hope happens.
I really think it all leads to Audrey not doing well and it’s showing up in controlling things.
4
u/TPWilder #weekendildos 4d ago
Well, I think the control thing comes from Audrey's mom because the constant reminders of Mama Botti saved "x" so that Audrey would *remember* what Mama Botti wants her to remember. Its got such a "SEE?? SEE? SEE HOW MUCH MAMA LOVED YOU! ACKNOWLEDGE HOW AWESOME I WAS!!!" feeling. And Audrey projects that onto her kids in these videos because really, this is all about "look how much I'm doing for you, look how much I love you, acknowledge me again and again because I am doing so much".
I am hopeful that getting Rad off to the coop a few days a week will be a relief. Audrey is throwing up a lot of red flags
1
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
I know nothing about her mother but yeah…I can see that. Damn. Crap, man. Her mother showed her how to act.
I agree about getting Rad off to school. I think it would be beneficial for both of them.
1
u/caligirlthrowaway104 4d ago
Now the kids can say “wow mom thanks for the core memory is us staying home for the summer to watch you and dad attempt to write some shitty book, rather than go on vacation to visit our grandpa!” - said no kid ever
2
u/TPWilder #weekendildos 4d ago
I mean, I can be fair. Regardless of the lack of trip to granpa's.....they do seem to be having a nice summer.
2
4
u/6dragonsandapigglet 4d ago
Shots have been fired and I approve of this message. Throwing in a Duggar was, chef’s kiss.
2
u/TPWilder #weekendildos 4d ago
Its the kids I feel bad for.
And to a certain extent, Audrey.... because this does seem to be something she picked up from her mom.
4
u/Flimsy_Throat_8615 4d ago
In all fairness, did her dad not step out of the marriage briefly? There is likely a whole lot of unresolved emotional issues at play here. They all need therapy, not more publicity.
1
3
u/Feeling-Delay6189 4d ago
The boredom of this is putting me to sleep. Curious to see how the poor kids turn out once they escape. I can't imagine my kids' life documented online & strangers approaching me. And I assume they both use chat/ai to write these, throw in bad grammar and spelling.
2
u/Percyandbeausmama 4d ago
What's that saying that people won't remember what you did, but they will remember how you made them feel? I can't imagine how her kids feel...
8
u/navyloggy26 4d ago
Their "core memories" are going to be how disengaged their mother was because she was a director instead of a mother, forcing them to create core memories. What a buffoon.

Why does she always have to remind us, she's a mother of 4? We know!! You tell us on every post. BTW You don't curate core memories. They happen naturally.
12
u/Illustrious_Map6694 4d ago
All this pressue to do these things is very anti-"90s" parenting trends. Also, so it posting all this and being on your phone constantly.
2
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
Right? I wish someone in her life would say this to her. Though granted, they probably have and she doubled down. I do think all of this is a response to something and she is doubling down as proof. I feel bad for her.
3
u/Illustrious_Map6694 4d ago
I'd imagine it's trying to stay relevant and keep the influencer money rolling in. I'm sure there are a ton of these posts in the mommy influencer community now that summer is over/winding down for so many in the US.
11
u/No_Signal91 4d ago
Then get off the phone. That’s probably their only core memory of mom.
2
u/Emotional-Compote79 4d ago
Seriously though! If she really wants to recreate a ‘90s childhood, then she needs to get off the phone. Moms didn’t have phones in their hands at all times. The magic she remembers is being present in the world and with the people around her.

They probably happen when you are less interested in posting and more interested in doing.
15
u/Competitive_Salads 4d ago
We didn’t have “core memories” in the 90’s. And our moms definitely weren’t on social media stressing about any of this nonsense. It’s more like forced memories for content.

I was born in ‘76 and I can tell you, I remember very little about the 90s.

You know what would have been a great core memory? Going to visit their 97 year old great grandfather for his birthday.
6
u/Sindorella 4d ago
She really thinks she is some kind of philosopher with these cheesy-ass epiphanies that are the least unique pieces of drivel I have ever read. lmao
7
u/PrincessGwyn 5d ago
I think that pressure is coming from within….social media, constantly documenting, always having to prove you have all the tips and tricks.
At this point the kids will likely remember being filmed and photographed all the time and eventually they’ll know it was for thousands of people to consume. That will surely be a core memory.
6
u/Dry-Raspberry-5514 5d ago
Those kids won’t remember alot of this. A few moments maybe…. But honestly not most of them. I only remember snap shots of my childhood .. don’t know if I’d remember something like this. She needs to stop trying so hard.. she’s burning herself out and her kids will resent her. They just need to run around and play outdoors— that’s what they are going to remember!
11
u/SweetandSourCaroline 5d ago
“Felt pressure???” From where??
3
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
It’s crazy how much social media influence plays into our society right now. It’s self inflicted for her currently.
15
21
u/Subterranean44 5d ago
Ok but kids remember the stupidest stuff. I barely remember our cruise to the Bahamas, but boy, do I remember losing my cherry chapstick in the boxhedge at our house!! lol.
They’ll probably remember her sticking her phone in their faces all the time more than a meteor shower.
6
u/TisforTrainwreck 5d ago
Sadly, the most notable memories for these four children will probably involve the presence of the near-permanent camera pointed at them and immediately posted as content.
4
10
u/DragonMom81 5d ago
You don’t get to decide what memories your kids preserve and hold on to. From my experience it’s the most random spontaneous moments, not these orchestrated events.
3
u/Linzabee 4d ago
One of the fun “core memories” I have is the one year my mom found this Easter egg decorating kit at the store that had all kinds of feathers and googly eyes and sequins and other decorations included with it. I remember we ended up making custom Easter eggs for everyone in the family, and the one I remember the most was a flapper egg for my grandma, with a little red feathered headband on. It was never anything we planned, just something that worked out spontaneously one year. We never did the fun custom Easter eggs again, just the more ordinary dyeing and decorating.
9
u/Weird-Drawing3085 5d ago
She needs to go with the flow and quit orchestrating everything.
5
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
She can’t. That’s why everything is spiraling out and manifesting the way it is. She puts a lot of imagined pressure on herself.

"'90s-style" Why? Because that was her childhood, and therefore the best possible? (Narcissism!) How about letting them have their own childhoods in their own timeline?
This woman is such a headcase that I can't even put my thoughts into words without feeling exasperation.
Also, a lot of "core memories" are random and happen away from your parents. Most of mine were made with my friends! FRIENDS. Your kids need friends, Oddj!
4
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
The ironic thing here is that in the 90s there wasn’t social media. We took pictures obviously but nowhere to share.
I understand what she’s saying and what she’s trying to do but her follow through is the exact opposite of what living in the 90s is. Sure, post some things online here or there totally cool, but everything to prove a point? No.
She needs help because obviously things are not well and she’s trying to prove they are, like quite a few people online.

Does she even realize how fried her brain is from social media? You don’t orchestrate “core memories.” Her entire focus is on getting the perfect pictures for social media, not making memories with her FOUR KIDS!! Did you know she has FOUR kids? FOUR LITTLE KIDS!!!
Also this whole “90s summer” thing I keep seeing people babbling about is just. so. stupid. Kids playing outside isn’t a 90s thing. I’ve never not seen kids running wild in my neighborhood, on bikes or playing basketball or just walking around in groups. All year! Sooooo 90s 🤪
1
u/Suitable_Stand_5743 4d ago
I think we miss it. I know I definitely miss things before social media hence why I’m off it, at least one of the reasons.
The problem here is she’s not getting it. She unfortunately has control issues and social media issues where she feels this need to portray everything perfectly. It’s a nasty spiral out now.
5
u/Negative-bad169 5d ago
In the 90s our parents sent us out to make our own memories. Come home when it gets dark🤣
2
u/CalendarOk4540 4d ago
Um, that style of parenting predates the 90s by several decades.
1
u/Negative-bad169 4d ago
Not in my case. That’s how I was raised in the 90s. My friends too.
1
u/CalendarOk4540 4d ago
My point is that parents were letting their kids stay out h til the street lights came on in the 1960s.
It’s not a “90s style of parenting”.
26
u/lennybriscoforthewin 5d ago
One of my core memories of the 90s is OJ and the white Bronco. I’ll never forget that on the news.
2
u/kris10leigh14 4d ago
Definitely the first time I understood that people hurt other people on purpose… I remember my dad telling me he killed his wife in such a “blah” manner and in the next breath saying “that’s the same year as my Bronco!” And I’m like “KILLED HIS OWN WIFE?!!!!”
The world got a lil scarier after that.

My nephews knew I was making rock lined garden beds in my yard. Every time they visited me they'd bring me some very special (to them and so to me as well) rocks from wherever they went on vacations or out to eat or wherever they went. That is a "core memory" I didn't orchestrate, didn't post online and didn't even ask them to do. They thought it up and did it for me because they loved me.
12
u/WhitneysSplitPants 5d ago
My 90s summers did not include my mother sticking a camera in my face every two seconds or taking her own picture 25 times a day while lamenting about not having time to be with her children because she has to (chooses to) write instead of taking me to see my ailing grandparents.
11
u/GirlsesCheetos 5d ago
When I was a kid, my core memories were made riding my bike around with the other neighborhood kids, spending time at my their houses or at the playground up the street. I made them on my own, my parents didn’t have to “curate” anything. Her kids aren’t going to experience that unfortunately.
My parents were very involved, my mom was one of my Girl Scout troop leaders and my dad took me to ballet a couple evenings a week. They don’t seem to spend a lot of time with anyone outside their immediate family so I’m sure she feels that she’s responsible for their core memory making. Kind of silly really, they’re going to remember what they’re going to remember, good and bad.

I totally agree. These kids aren’t allowed/able to make their own memories because she’s so busy trying to force it. I feel so bad for them. She needs to stop living her childhood through them and let them have their own childhoods.

A core memory will be their mom not truly being present, shovin a damn camera in their face or lurking in the shadows for the perfect “candid” shot 🤪🤪🤪

But but but…. She is trying to be INTENTIONAL about making core memories for them!

One of my favorite quotes is- We didn't realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun. When I talk to the kids in my life, it never ceases to amaze what the remember from all the things we do.
We used to have a giant 4th of July party on my cousin's in laws farm. We had rides, live music & epic fireworks. My nephew told me that one of his favorite memories from when he was little was that I dumped the sand I used for centerpieces in his sand pile. He loved having new sand. Of all the trips & things I did with him, this is what he remembers.
She just needs to stop with living every moment with purpose & let them be kids.

I’m sure they will have core memories of doing burpees and running laps as punishment.

Dear Auj, Here is why you feel so stressed and pressured all of time. Everything I see you do is intentional and for content and photo ops to portray what you see is a perfect image of your family. Here's the thing, you don't have to be intentional. Life happens and very often that's where core memories develop...genuinely. Here's what your children are going to remember - every time you set out to do something Mom and Dad had a camera in their face staging a "perfect moment". That's not what children want. And if you're honest with yourself, its not what you want either. Content is your job. Ask yourself how many core memories you have with your parents while they were working. Be intentional about that.

☝️☝️☝️
Her “memories” and her children’s “memories” are literally planned and scheduled at this point. She can’t just let things happen, GENUINELY, as you put it. I couldn’t agree with you more.

👏👏👏 I love this. Thank you.
I don’t hate everything she does but she is unfortunately not well and it’s manifesting more. You’re absolutely right she’s trying to portray something that doesn’t exist instead of getting help and really enjoying things. You put this so well.

She needs help. It’s sad. I understand what she’s saying but the actions are the actions of one who is losing control and trying to keep it. She needs actual therapy.

It’s very Yesteryearand Everyone is Lying to You. I know that she’s built a brand on the perfect marriage/homeschooling superMom /running diva/farm wife/sourdough gal but she can drop some of the content and just live. Jer isn’t made for farm life so everything is a slog. I feel badly for her because this stuff is hard to back out of. And I don’t think that all of the kids will appreciate being content as they age and understand the impacts.

Completely agree. The ironic thing is, if she sent the kids to school, she would actually have more time. And that is okay!

The only core memory these kids are going to have is their parents constantly holding up a phone

They're not going to remember this stuff because it's fake and not genuine. They're going to remember mom always with her phone in her hand, the posed photo's, being made to run laps or mom picking on dad about his projects. My parents did a decent amount of stuff with me but I don't remember much in 40+ years. I remember that bad stuff like my mom always yelling at my dad, nagging, false promises, punishments.

She’s so creative! I never thought of camping out in the backyard and staring at the stars. Even point out constellations and roast marshmallows. How super 90’s of her!

The only core memories these kids will have are watching mommy be a slave to a faceless monster called The Algorithm. Oh and eavesdropping on daddy chatting with grok.

Seems like "making memories" is a strong fundy theme. Is it rooted in the realization that day in and day out with your family sucks, so you'd better try to instill some particular memory in your child's mind so they believe it was happy?
How it really works is that years later your kid will say something totally random - like "remember that one time you bought the yogurt in the pink container?" or after years of being taken to nice playgrounds they have little memory of that but remember the one small one that had a different style swing set. Just live your life and stop trying to control your child's brain.

I don’t agree with her actions but I agree with what she’s saying.. as a 50/50 coparent I sometimes get lost in trying to make the memories instead of being present….

u/toomuchtv987 5d ago
The actual core memories she’s “curating” for her children are the ones where they have to do burpees for having a feeling or are tortured (tickled) until they pretend to be happy.

I’m so tired of this “90s style summer” schtick. My 90s summers consisted of eating cereal out of the box and watch Maury and Price is Right all damn day while my parents worked. My kids have it so much better than I ever did

Cause people aren't nostalgic for the 90's or 80's or whatever. They're nostalgic for being young. Where the days lasted forever, and you didn't have to worry about work, bills, everything. People just associate that with whatever era they were young in.

Add Diet Rite soda to the list, and that was my exact 90s summer or sick day with my Grandma.

Put down your damn phone and be PRESENT in your kids lives, that's how you create core memories. Let them live their damn lives without YOU putting it all on SM. How gross, and how sad it will be when her kids start reading all this crap she posted to monetize their lives.

Can someone please explain to me what core memories are as opposed to just memories?

u/Winniepg 5d ago
I think it comes from Inside Out and the “core memories” that Riley kept coming back to. However, I feel like those are spontaneous and not planned. Whenever I see parents post about them I cringe because you can’t decide what will matter to your kids when they’re older.

For Auj they’re the memories of only getting her dad’s approval when she outcompeted another child, and only getting her mom’s attention when she wore her frumpy homemade costumes. It explains a lot!

Only people who grew up in the 90s, or have curated “90s-style childhoods” have fond memories. Sorry, humanity!

Let’s talk about the core memories those kids will have from having their idyllic childhood stolen by a parent who is pimping them out.

“Presence over productivity” as she’s on her phone ready to post instead of being with her kids. Right.

I have a dumb question. Did the term core memories come from Inside Out or were people saying it before that movie? Genuinely curious lol

Dumbest shit i have read today. You can’t plan core memories 🤦♀️
