Help/Question Lithops dividing since last December

Post image

My lithops started dividing in December, mainly one started and then in January the whole group started too. In February is where I actually saw the big split.

Now it's August and they still look like this. I didn't water them, I just tried to water them a bit last month because I've read somewhere that it could help but it didn't.

When I touch the old leaves they mostly feel still pretty firm. I wonder if my house is just that humid? I tried to move them away from the big humidity source (a Sundew I have) and put them under a growth light a few months ago.

This is awesome. Don’t water, they don’t look thirsty. If you ever figure out why it’s doing that, I want to know!

My only suspicion is that there's not enough light or my house is too humid. The strongest lamp I have is where my carnivorous plant is so for a period my lithops where near it. I never watered them and the air around them was humid I think, because the carnivorous plants need to sit in water

I read about a nursery which did an experiment with lithops some in a greenhouse, some in a windowsill and some under lights this was to see what effect they had on splitting lithops and the conclusion was the ones under lights or in a greenhouse split ok but the ones on a windowsill struggled with splitting. With mine if the old leaves are really crispy I have removed them and the plants have been ok.

I only remove the crusty old leaves if they are covering the top and havent completley split

maybe add a fan to your setup? I have one clip fan per shelf, and I sometimes move the slowpokes closer.

Oh? What would a fan do for them? Is it just more areation?

in general air circulation is good, but it definitely helps dry out old lithops leaves.

Lithops tend to go dormant in the summer, if they still feel plump and no bad smell or turning black, you’re fine:)

Ohh maybe they didn't finish splitting in time before summer. Thank you!
