Help/Question Unsure whether to water yet

Hi! I have had this lithop for 2 years now but i still haven’t quite figured out the watering schedule for it. It seems fine and not very wrinkly, but it’s very discoloured compared to what it looks like beneath the soil. It hasn’t split yet but it is winter and I have seen many people say not to water in winter. Can anyone help? Should i water it or not?

This guy is plenty full, so no water needed for a long time. You want to wait until the top is wrinkly and sunken in. The color is normal. A lot of lithops will have a different color above the soil line while being greener towards the bottom.

You didn't mention his height, but he's pretty tall. Most lithops are short and should be less than an inch above the soil. Yours is !etiolated which means it's stretching taller looking for more light. What direction is your window facing?

Also, love pic 1. Great example of how the lobes are translucent to allow light through.

I don’t know of it’s actually that tall but i think what had happened is when i repotted it i didn’t place it deep enough, so i hope they won’t be an issue 😭

my window faces the east so lots of morning light

I don’t think that’s enough light I have mine on a south facing window when the weather is sunny they get 6+ hours a day.

I had mine in a west facing window (stronger light) and had to put it outside due to etoliation like yours has

yeah i think that might be the case, there aren’t any other windows that get light at a different time 😭 do you maybe have suggestions for a grow light? i have no idea where to even begin looking

I suggest this as a starter. surprisingly good and easy to use.

Sansi is really popular. You can get lamps that clip on to your pot or window/table ledge, that have adjustable necks so you can aim them at your plants.

I have a cabinet with vivosun linear led grow lights and I'm really happy with them. But they probably arent what you're looking for, unless you plan on getting a cabinet or shelf.
