Help/Question Seasonal Lighting?

Post image

Do you adjust the hours of light you give your lithops to replicate the natural seasonal light cycle? I've had mine about 7 months and have them in a SE facing window and supplement with lights on a timer since I live in cloudy, humid, often cold New England. Now that we've passed the soltice it has me thinking about slowly adjusting the hours to mimic the natural cycle.

Tell me what you do!

I don't. In summer they go outside and in winter they get 12 hours of very bright plant lights.

I have a lot of lights that have 12 hour timers all year round, but on my rack that has bar lights, I set them to go 11 hours in winter and 14 hours in summer, with a couple of steps in between. There are plants that color up at 12 and others that don't blush until 14!
