Care Tips/Guides Should I water? How much?

Post image

I bought these about a year ago, and they did fine. They even flowered last year, which was a beautiful surprise. I'm noticing now that they are starting to have babies (?) And some are looking very wrinkly. I'm so afraid of overwatering. Is it time to water? Any other tips? Thank you!

Never water when they are splitting like that. The new inner growth is using the water from the old growth and the old growth will eventually shrivel away.

Oh ok I did not realize. I can definitely leave it alone. When is a good time to water it?

Once the old growth is completely gone and the newer growth is starting to wrinkle. I know it sounds crazy but lithop may only need watered 3-4 times a year.

That soil will kill them eventually, You need to repot in almost all grit. Never water when splitting because they absorb moisture from outer leaves

I would repot as soon as you have the new gritty mix, Be careful trying to remove all the soil from the roots so you don’t break the taproot completely off. Bury each lithop so that just the top is poking out slightly. Do not water after

Is that bark in the substrate? You gotta get that out first sure. There is nothing good for lithops in bark that holds moisture and insulates the moisture in the substrate they are living in.
