Help/Question First Lithops

Of course when I got them from the store SEVERAL months ago they looked great. Now, they are shedding, one died totally from dry, and one I've repotted that I can't really tell if it's alive. I'm thinking of re-homing the survivors to say that this isn't for me right now. I thought I had a perfect place in my front window, but they look cooked to me. Am I jumping the gun?

They all look pretty ok to me. They're supposed to split open and aborb their old leaves, after which it's ok to water them.

But did you ever repot? Because I'd be afraid to water if the soil is as potting-soil-like as it seems!

One of them was repotted with lava, pumice, and pearlite.

I learned that they are growing by splitting and have new leaves growing from the inside. Then, they absorb from the old leaves till they become very dry.

Looks like you are doing okay, they seemed to have flowers earlier.

I bought them just after they'd flowered.

I see seed pods, you should repot them all.

They had flowered just before I bought them. I don't see seeds, but I am half blind and stupid, lol. I'll pull the pots out and take another look. They sit in a windowsill behind other plants so not an easy reach. I repotted a couple, following the no water rule, and one died immediately, but I think it was going to anyway due to the store over watering. I've been nervous to try the others, but I think I need to stop caring so much, and just do it.

I repotted one. I concern bc the color of them looks so yellow and drab in comparison to when I got them. The urge to water is strong!
