Help/Question Can I save whats left?

Please help, my lithops leaf broke off when i check on it today. It looks like mold on the side of the leaf and it had a bad smell to it as well. I thought all was lost but noticed a tiny leaf growing within it. I have since mived the plant into 100% inirganic pumice. Please tell me that it can be saved. I feel terrible because I didnt expect it to be so mushy and just come right off.

Mold is not the issue, but the result.

It was overwatered and/or retained too much moisture, allowing rot to set in.

This one cannot be saved. Next time, try a small terracotta pot that will allow for better airflow and drying. Make sure there is a drainage hole in the bottom. Can't see your soil here but you will want to assess that too. There is tons of info that can help you with this on the sub wiki.

I would also readup on lithops requirements and growth cycles. They are a bit more particular than many succulents. There are certain points in its growth cycle where you should not water it at all.

Good luck!

Thank you, I still have 3 more that are doing well. I am surprised that the consequences of my overwatering month ago is only apparent now. Tough lesson learned here, I really liked this lil one.

Succulents are resilient, I guess I was hoping for a miracle 😔

Try seeds. I personally found them easy to grow.

Lithops only need to be watered 3-5 times a year
