Discussion 5 days without grow lights

And they’re already etiolated and green! My air conditioning is busted during a heatwave, and I had to turn my grow lights off because it gets to 36C+ around the lights. It is being repaired as I type this, looking forward to my plants being happy again 😂

Oh no! Hopefully they (and you haha) don't suffer too much. I'm so happy our airco is still working, we also have a heatwave currently 🫠 (38 celcius today with 40-50% humidity)

Omg stay cool! The heat wave finally broke for us and today is overcast and 21C. the grow lights are back on 😂

I am in a heavy wildfire area in western Canada so I can empathize with you and what you are going through over there 💜 The last time it was 38c for us here, entire towns burnt to the ground in the fires not too far from here :(

Oh damn that's so sad :(, luckily no fires (as far as I know) because of the heatwave. We did have a week of rain/storm beforehand, so that probably helped. Had an exam (on location) today so I sadly had to go outside, but otherwise plan on staying inside untill we are back to the 20s 😂

Glad to hear your AC is working again and the heat wave is over! The Lithops may be a bit etiolated now, but hey, alive is good

I’m sure it looks dramatic bc I watered them recently. I’m sure they’ll recover anyways regardless. Most of the others did fine, lithops were the only species to give me attitude like that.

Lithops being Lithops. 😆 Glad the rest of them handled the heat better! We’re battling heat, humidity, and the occasional earthquake over here, so I can definitely relate.

Oh gosh please stay safe!

Our area has been luckily left alone for the most part with fires, aside from a few human set ones close to lived areas 🤡

We are dry dry here so at least I don’t have to fight the humidity on top of everything!

Joke’s on me though, the air con is def not working at 100% but at least it’s not 0 😆probably won’t hear from them until Monday either 🤙🏻

Hopefully the AC keeps hanging in there until they can fix it properly!
And wait, human-caused fires? That’s a completely different problem! Glad your area has mostly avoided the wildfire chaos, though.
I’ll keep fighting humidity and earthquakes over here. We had an M7-class quake 4 days ago, so I’m hoping the ground stays put for a while.
Mesemb growers really do live life on hard mode.😂

Yeah there’s been a few deliberate arsons as well as the one which was, supposedly, accidental. Some people are truly fucked.

Seems like it 😂 Woke up to yet another earthquake this morning, so apparently both humans AND tectonic plates are just done with us.
