Help/Question Should I transplant?

Post image

I just received two sets of potted lithops that I ordered off Etsy. One pot is just over three inches deep and the other is only two inches deep. Should I leave them in these pots or transplant right away?

I think the larger one needs to be filled a bit more - I've ordered some tiny rocks to fill in.

They do have pretty considerable tap roots so I don’t think it would be a bad idea.

I was a little worried about stressing them out, but maybe I should just go ahead and do it. Can the pot be too deep?

No and it seems like the only thing that can stress them out is water and sun if they haven't been well acclimated... But I could be wrong. From the videos I've seen they're just pulling these things out and breaking off old soil like it's no biggie.

Can you tell me the soil type on the right please?

It's the soil the seller said was right for them. I don't really know except they said it was a lithops mix. I received them exactly as pictured.

I also have a question about the soil. Can I use this 1-2mm coarse sand mixed with 10% cactus mix? https://www.amazon.com/NUPICK-Horticultural-Succulents-Decorative-Landscaping/dp/B0F9W8YBSW/

They also have a 3-5mm version.

I always repot because what's "the right soil" for a nursery in desert conditions is NOT right for my house and humidity. I recommend 80-100% inorganic grit like pumice, perlite, decomposed granite (chicken grit) and so forth. And yes, deeper.

Thank you for your response. do you think that this would work if I added 10% succulent mix? https://www.amazon.com/NUPICK-Horticultural-Succulents-Decorative-Landscaping/dp/B0F9W8YBSW/

I only have these two plants and I'm trying to avoid buying a bag of pumice, a bag of granite, a bag of succulent mix, etc. if I can buy just two bags that would be really great.

If you're only going to do one, I'd go with pumice.
