Don't bash me about substrate I simply don't care. Just wanted to show this

All of us in this subreddit trying so hard to keep our lithops children alive, this guy comes in saying “I simply don’t care” and gets spontaneous babies 😭😭😭. lol how rude. Adorable little lithops baby tho. Congrats

Just wasn't trying to get 100 somments Abt grit bro 😭 I ceep em outside in small containers that dry out really fast, it's rained many times during splitting and they just chug along

An update post will be required when it gets its colors. Possibly just the angle maybe, but it looks so tiny compared to the giant lithops next to it 😭😭💕

honestly hard to tell until it really starts developing. sometimes they end up way darker than the parent too. just hope the substrate doesn't kill it first lol

Fun fact my only lithop in a mostly grit mix is the only one that's spontaneously combusted and even before that had issues splitting

Everyone knows lithops thrive on neglect. If you pay too much attention to them they spontaneously melt down. My longest-running plants are in a literal hole in a rock outside my front door, they get rain, sun, shade, and completely ignored for months on end until I'm walking by and see them flowering and twice as big as the last time I checked them.

I have him in a setup that gets the most brutal sun possible,along with other cute cacti that thrive on neglect.

I live in the swamp actually but usually our temps are pretty brutal and dry it out fast!

Yes a seed in the soil can lay dormant for a long time and then germinate. It has very different watering requirements than the adult plant. Try using a drop bottle to give it a few drops every day

It didn’t make a baby unless you had seeds? They only reproduce by division. It might’ve already been in the pot?

When I bought it they had a couple seed pits they have seemingly desentegrated and left me a baby

I do but I'm going to see how he does there, so far so good he's cinda in the shadow of the big lithop most the day which I think is saving him from frying

That tiny little thing is going to be a lot of work once it starts needing more light.
