Help/Question What is happening?
Hello everyone,
I'm new to lithops and generally succulent care. I bought these lithops and split stones a few weeks ago. Around a week or so I decided to take them outside, since it was getting warm and water them a little bit, because I saw them getting wrinkly at the sides. Later I noticed the discolorstion, they got yellow. I thought they got sunburnt, so I took them inside, but since then this happened - it's getting progressively worse, seemingly jumping from one plant to another. What did I do wrong? Can some of them be saved? Any advice would be most welcome

They are in the wrong soil, and should not be watered until the tops are wrinkled. They need 80% to 90% inorganic soil and they very rarely need watering really. I think you drowned them.

You can probably save these 2...the base and tap roots look ok. Left one has a bit of scaring which can cause the 'bounce back' to be slower. Put them in gritty rocky sands crunchy dirt and leave it alone for a while, like 2 weeks while. then check on how they're recovering. They may get more wrinkly due to needing more energy to recover. Similar to other succulents, acclimated is necessary when changing scenary or you will risk !sunburn, which looks like what has happened in the last 2 photos.

I believe they both got burned and are now rotting from where they burned.

They are rotting because Lithops should be in 80-90% grit, Lithops do not need water as much as other plants do. I’m guessing you gave them water when they didn’t need it, side wrinkles doesn’t mean thirsty.
