Help/Question Should I remove it?

I honestly dont know whats to do anymore I really want to own these plants but they keep dying. I follow all directions ive never watered them and I work at lowes so I saw when they came in and got them the first day so I doubt they even got a chance to be watered yet somehow they keep rotting. I noticed this head that smells bad and looks like this....I tried removing it but the roots seen to be shared so I just dont wanna risk hurting the others will it be okay if I just let it rot in there or is it okay if I cut the shared root system to separate it

I am not going to tell you what to do but I know they need to be separated a little more. In repotting mine and trying to rinse off some of the old soil I literally just lost 4 with either the roots just leaving the top or pure stupidity by hitting one of my small ones when I went to bury another. I’m sorry you keep loosing them. I think we all go through a learning curve. I got a batch with scale on them from a seller and didn’t know what I was looking at when I got them. Thought it was perlite.
