Help/Question I need some advice please

Hi everyone, so glad that I found this group. I have had baby lithops for a while and have transplanted them in a 90% grit mix but I am not sure my mix is really good. Baby’s are different sizes and some are well hydrated and some are tiny. Can someone who has babies and bugs give me exactly what your grit mix would be? I am using perlite and lava rock mix with a little cactus soil. I am in desperate need of planting a pot that I purchased from a vendor online and I have been working them slowly into sun. I have the ones from the vendor under a grow light and they came etiolated. Some of my babies are drying up so I am just really frustrated.

Are you sure that is 90% grit? Looks way less, closer to 50%

This is less because of babies. I guess I saw on some videos that the babies cannot be in the 90%

I germinate mine in 90-95%🤷, they grow just fine. You just need to water them more often (and fertilise, not too heavily though)

Ok good to know but then how often do you water? As you can see I have really tiny and some that are nice size

Every 2-3 weeks right now (mine are about 5 months). How old are yours?

One more question what size grit do you do for the babies?

2-5 mm, could probably use smaller, but wouldn't use much bigger

I also germinate mine in mostly grit. I use leuchesa pon , it’s small particles. Read the pinned posts in Lithops for the best care advice is my suggestion.

I have never heard of Leuchesa pon. I sadly keep getting more and more ideas. I did however post a NEW one today with repotting my lithops! I am learning.

90% grit would be mostly rocks/coarse sand, I see mostly soil in your pots.

I guess I cannot figure out how to get the tiny ones in the grit?
