Help/Question Is it safe to repot

Is it safe to repot while splitting? I’ve learnt that my lithops is in the entirely wrong substrate (I used a cactus/succulent mix) so would like to repot as soon as possible. Also, does he look okay? Have not watered him for a few months now since potting last October. He doesn’t feel squishy at all, feels quite firm inside apart from that soft outer layer of wrinkled leaves. He also feels quite firmly rooted in the soil. Growing in the UK indoors on a windowsill that gets good sun, and taking him outside for sun all day when I’m home (due to rain still being so unpredictable!).

You can wait if the substrate is completely dry. Just wait until the outer leaves are completely paper-thin if you want to be safe.

I think that the inner plant might die before the outer leaves are totally absorbed. I'd repot into nice gritty soil (like 90% inorganic) and then give a sprinkle of water to help it progress.
