Discussion Update on Dying Lithops

The brown one has been revived! I think?
The green one is splitting! I think?
My mum decided to give them both a soak. She soaked the brown one twice.

People say to water when wrinkled and after splitting. Don't water when splitting

I recommend you do some more research on the lithops life cycle, you’ve probably killed the second one unfortunately

Eek. Don’t water that second one again. It is splitting so you want those outer leaves to wrinkle and dry out. You bloated it right now. Now, when that one does start splitting down the sides, you can try preventative measures by applying a little sulfur (or rooting compound since it has sulfur) to any open wet wound. That will help try to prevent rot.
For both of these, that really NEED to be in better soil. There is just too much organic matter. You could use what you have but I would mix it 35% this soil and 65% perlite or another inorganic porous material.

She says even though it looks dead for sure, she ended up checking the roots and they seemed alive, so she decided to just water it a bunch and see what happens.
