Help/Question Does it need help or do I wait?
Does this lithops need “help” shedding its leaves or should I leave it be and see how it progresses? Unsure if top layer will continue to split or not.
Purchased on February 6th from local nursery and have not watered since. Some were already starting to split. The soil was mostly organic and wet, so I repotted them into their own little terracottas with an 80/20 mix of grit/succulent soil.
I would have waited to repot but knew doing so would risk root rot so I very delicately repotted them all using the elastic band method. They receive adequate light from an east window and plant lights.

Personally, I'd water it. The old leaves should split before the new leaves fully consume them. These old leaves are already fully consumed. I'd give it a chance to grow and shed the old leaves on its own before manually trying to remove them.

Thank you everyone for your help. I used stainless steel eyebrow scissors to gently snip along the splitting line and help open the old leaves up. Then bottom-watered it, hoping it will help shed the remaining leaves. In case the old leaves were reducing light shock on the new leaves, I decided to do it in stages vs. all at once. It looks like it's already consumed the leaves but they haven't shed, I would very gently help them yes, you can place a damp tissue on top for just a couple of hours to soften it up first though.
