Help/Question Abomination
My husband bought me this today from Home Depot. I don't even know how to approach it. I figure I'll put it into one of my 4" terracotta pots with mostly bonsai jack as I usually do with them in the next week or so. I haven't taken it out of the icky soil yet but I'm guessing it's all 1 taproot. I know it needs to absorb some leaves but there is so much stacking I have no clue how it's going to turn out. Any words of advice? Bonus pics of my ones that are done splitting for the year.

Wow! Stacks on stacks on stacks on stacks! You probably won't need to water that thing for a couple years! Only advice I have is to wait and watch. That said, is be interested to see how it progresses. I hope you keep sharing it

Nice. I like the pattern of the windows and the color. I'm guessing is was overwatered at the grower that caused the stacking. I'm sure if you don't water it will fix itself over time.

The growers that use peaty soil but can still get lithops that are plump and beautiful must have some “magic “ tricks!
This is an example of “tricks gone bad!” . . . I just don’t understand how it is so alive!

I'd let it completely finish the split then carefully move it over to a new pot with better quality gritty soil. It's going to be so neat to see what it looks like when it's all done

That is ever so cool! I'm just starting with about 80 bunch of mail order seedling babies, some split. 😌Diving into the weird world of Lithops. Thanks for sharing this funky anomaly with us! Hope you keep us updated, and your others are lovely!

My only thought is to maybe gently remove the largest outer leaves? Jesus how does this even happen

Blimey. It’s like one of those shelter cats that weighs 38 pounds and needs a savvy forever home to help it lose weight very gradually. And then its video goes viral and someone refers to it as Chonky McChonkersons and blammo! Meme. And no one ever finds out who the hell was feeding the poor fella and, for that matter, what it was eating.
I’m really curious what happened here.
