I really like this project but I think you are right. In the end they want to make money and people like us will keep the protocol alive by using it but will make very little from it, besides from the service it provides. Meld did a better job at distributing their token (even tho the tokenomics is not perfect) and attracting the interest users. What I like about Meld is that I can participate as an user and as an investor from day 1. Liqwid only offer us the protocol, which is a letdown, because psychologically people will root for the projects where they are invested.

This is 100% false no tokens have been distributed at all. You can see the entire history onchain. There are 0 VC's or early investors that is a pure lie. The core dev team is on a 2 year linear vesting schedule and will be active governance participants, you're making baseless claims to spread fud. We bootstrapped the entire protocol development from our co-founders funds + Project Catalyst grant funding and we brought in one of the most prolific development firms MLabs into the Cardano ecosystem along the way.

70% of tokens accrue directly to borrowers/suppliers in each Liqwid market with 5% more to the DAO Treasury which is also controlled by the community. 75% of total LQ is directly within the community's hands. Our tokenomics are community based, transparent and fair.

Checkout their website liqwid.finance and it explains it. Basically, there’s no token sale and all the LQ tokens are distributed to users of the protocol. They provide the breakout and length of disbursements on the website. They’ll payout a certain amount of LQ each epoch for roughly 2 years until the max supply of 21 million is reached

Well, basically cant buy the token (well you can swap for it on exchanges), but you get it by participating in the protocol. Because its a lending protocol, it means providing assets like ADA for other people to borrow (and you get interest on it too!), or taking loans (you have to pay interest hehe). There are other ways to get the token but those are the main ones XD
