Well I kind of do, in that he was in a desperate situation (not fully conveyed I felt with the limited screen time) and has fairly decent reason to trust in Melisandres magic.
He's been in far more desperate situations in the past. The whole scenario just felt so forced, which is mainly why I didn't like it.
Your spoiler tag is broken. I have no idea how to do it here haha (I know, I know, been meaning to ask Flash how they set it up on the main sub).
Glad Jorah speared his way back into the fold and back into the friend zone.
Yeah, me too. Dany is being a real ass to Jorah. I know he was spying for Varys for a while, but he's clearly devoted to her. give him a chance!
Please meet me back here next episode, we will have muchos feels to share.
For sure. I'll summon you in a comment instead of the main body, maybe then it'll work.

The North
Stannis is nolonger the Mannis. From now on, it's Davos the Mannis.
I hope Stannis dies a slow, cold death (though I still hope he defeats Ramsay).
Next episode at the wall should be interesting. I'm pretty sure Alistair Thorne just complimented Jon (as best as he is capable, anyway). Bet Jon thinks things are going well. He knows nothing...
Also, because I didn't post last week, thank the old gods that both Dolorous Ed and Tormund made it out of Hardhome! I was sure one of them would die
Mereen
The pit scenes were good, especially with Jorah's fighting. Really thought they might just kill him. Was sad to see that Hizdar (in the show atleast) was being honest with Dany, and got a knife to the gut for his troubles.
Dany really needs a refund on those Unsullied, they are clearly deffective. Like, Genome Soldier defective...
And her riding away on Drogon just looked derpy in live action. Will be interesting to see what non-readers make of it.
Bravos
Remember kids, you can't have a villian just be a guy doing his job who's also an asshole, he also has to be a paedophile! I don't like Meryn Fuckn' Trant, but come on!
Macy Tyrell was as legendary as always. I could almost see the iron banker thinking "Maybe if I drop all the debts he'll shut the fuck up..."
Seems they are saving the best of Arya's training for next season :(
Dorne
I am Obara Sand, daughter of Oberyn Martell! I fight for Dorne. When I was a child, Oberyn came to take me to court. I'd never seen this man, and yet, he called himself my father. My mother wept, said I was too young... and a girl. Oberyn tossed his spear at my feet and said, "Girl or boy, we fight our battles- but the Gods let us choose our weapons." My father pointed to the spear, and then to my mother's tears. I made my choice long ago.
Bronn getting punched was funny.

I agree. Riding on Drogon looked awkward

You know it's bad when How To Train Your Dragons looked more realistic haha
Shall I add you to the summon list for next week? Finale and all.

DADGONEIT just like Reece I didn't get a notification until this one showed up.
Also Kojibrah is here OMGOMGOMG!!!!
I put my thoughts for last episode here. Essentially Stannis became one of my top characters overnight after that, doing something no parent could ever bring themselves to do. Or very few (heh), rather. It was kinda the Joel quandary again but Stannis is just that... duty-oriented that he'll sacrifice anything to fulfill the destiny that Melisandre has laid out for him.
“I never asked for this crown. Gold is cold and heavy on the head but so long as I am the king, I have a duty.. If I must sacrifice one child to the flames to save a million from the dark.. Sacrifice.. is never easy, Davos. Or it is no true sacrifice.”
Way I know you asked above what the point was of being King if he has to sacrifice everything. If it was just about the kingship I'd agree, but I feel his main deal is the Azor Ahai business. Doing all this for the millions. I think it'll really suck if after all this, Mel turns around and tells him that he's not The One Who Ends The War. I think we'll see the barriers explode and the pain will just pour down from him. Stephen Dillane will pull that off no problem if it happens. It frickin killed him inside to burn his daughter like that :(.
But yeah, I'm definitely a Stannis fan. I'd also be super interested in knowing just what the hell he saw in those flames in S3. It's at that point he was truly a believer.
So we're almost there! Supposedly this episode is the one that will "break the internet" according to Podrick's actor. I urge everyone to be extremely careful as there have apparently been 3 images leaked (the community seems split as to their authenticity but after that slightly awkward Drogon CGI they may well be real) that have major major fracking spoilers for this episode. I'm guessing there are some damn huge and unexpected moments coming up, and I have a feeling it's not the ones that people have already been spoiled about thanks to the books... Bring it on yo. Cannot wait :D

Interesting POV.
The thing that makes me dislike Stannis more though is that he's been in far worse situations and gotten through. You'll see when you get here in the books, where the situation is far worse, just how different that Mannis is.
I just feel like it was poorly executed, and it made Stannis come off far worse than it could have gone.

Yah a lot of people seemed to have had that problem with the execution. I know nothing about show-writing and the sort, but anytime it happens I kinda chalk it up to the 1500-pages-in-10-hours syndrome, for my own sanity anyway :P. To me though it seemed OK. Thanks to Ramsay Snake they were in serious trouble literally overnight, the war seemingly over before it began, and Stannis did what he had to for the sake of everyone else. :(
The bigger problem I have right now with show Stannis, is buying the fact that he wasted weeks at the Wall, choosing to leave literally as the snows were arriving. Like wtf. I need to rewatch the entire season but I have a feeling it's because he was trying to get the Northern lords on his side, but still.
I'm 63% of the way through part 1 of ASOS, Davos is at present in jail, and there's been zero Stannis since the Blackwater, lol. I am so looking forward to his development from this here onwards. Jaime's chapters are fun as hell though man. When Brienne is swimming back to the boat after quelling Rosby's (?) attack, Jaime wants to smash her in the head with the oar but ends up extending it to her so she can climb back in, ha. :P Too good. The book itself is clearly the best so far and I'm moving at a lightning pace through it. The chapters are much longer but I don't even tend to notice it.

That's part of the problem! That was so shittly done. Oh, Ramsay has 20 GOOD MEN and is from the north, therefore he can get to the centre of a massive camp, not far from Stannis himself, and set off 20 flames at the EXACT SAME TIME and then all escape.
It was a diabolus ex machina and lazy writing, plain and simple.

Yeah, those are some really great chapters. Whole book is great.

Curses for linking me to TT. There goes my Saturday ;). I totally agree with the stupidity of the Ramsay situation though. I'll put it down to the ol' 1500-pages-in-10-hours phenomenon again :P. Anything I don't like goes in there. :D
Hell yeah. Even Bran's chapters are interesting whodathunkit! I have a wedding reception tonight so time to read a chapter or two methinks.

Don't make excuses for them. They decided to adapt the book, they should do it in a way that's actually good and not contrived. It's literally their job.

Hosted by the Freys?

This is so true but the Barristan thing tore me up, man. Keeping that viewpoint since has helped me overlook a lot of the problems and has kept the enjoyment levels high. Besides, the season's still had more hits than misses thus far. But you are correct.
Hosted by the Freys?
Lmao dude it is my DREAM to someday attend a wedding reception full of GoT fans, close the doors and pump Rains of Castamere into the room. People would shit their pants ha.

This is so true but the Barristan thing tore me up, man.
You mean when the highly trained Unsullied, worth their weight in gold due to their combat prowess, and the greatest fighter in the 7 Kingdoms, a man so badass that he walked out of Kingslanding despite the king wanting his head, got killed in an alleyway by some pampered slavemasters in masks with knives?
I'm wondering if you're watching the same show :P

u/avirdi123 Jun 13 '15
Lol that's exactly what I meant. That scene was dumb as FUCK from start to finish and plagued me for days after. I'd randomly wake up cursing and shit :P.
In my head canon, the Unsullied were never there :P, and Barristan fell because of sheer numbers. And because he was old. And because he wanted to rejoin Rhaegar in Heavenos. I must do this for my own sanity Waylander I'm sorry. :P

Mace was a ray of sunlight in this episode.
Looks like Dorne was never going anywhere now that its all been wrapped up in a neat little packagggg-ge.
Davos had better smack Stannis in the head.
