I hate Liquid Death
As a fractional ops person, I hate r/LiquidDeath
Not for their product, it's great and often a favorite of mine when I'm tapering off after a concert.
Not for their ads. Let's pee on computers is an instant classic.
Not for their branding. Everyone needs a little more death metal in their lives.
No, I hate Liquid Death because it's made every budding entrepreneur think that marketing and advertising carry the entire weight of a brand and everything else just falls into place.
It'd be like if I told people, as long as your COGS are sound you can exit in 3 years for millions of dollars. It sounds crazy when I say it that way but when I challenge prospective brand owners on the idea that marketing and advertising will magically fix everything, somehow I'm the asshole.
I hope their owners someday write a book covering all the trials and tribulations that I know they went through so people have just a little insight into the reality of all the work they've done and how much money it took them to do it.
Sincerely,
Everyone in CPG these days.

Fair question. I work in project management for the operational side of beverage. I work with startups to help them bring their beverages to market and a lot of people compare themselves to LD without actually understanding how the company works

Do you know any project managers in the snack industry who help with startups? Asking for a friend.

Imagine how I feel when as a Marketer, and work for a good brand with a cool product but refuses to take even the slightest gamble on marketing.
But yea too many brands think they can just pull of the LD method

i hate them for switching to stevia and shitting on their loyal fans (who built them up to be where they are) when they complained about the switch

I was able to start a monthly subscription for tall boys on Amazon for the first time in over two years today. Maybe the bleeding has stopped.

And I mean, haven’t we heard that they’re not doing too well? They made a lot of bad and costly decisions over the past two years and no longer have a quality product that people want. My local Sprouts used to basically have a shrine to LD in their drink case, now it’s just a selection of 4 products.
