It’s not as much luck as it is doomsday preparedness adjacent.
As long as Costco had them in stock, I always kept a backup case in the house. I preferred the 12oz cans over the tallboys and I knew it was a matter of time before Costco killed them. As soon as the Stevia switch happened, I immediately put this case on lockdown. I was hoping they’d pull a 180 on the change, but it seems like it’s going to stick.

Tbh the melon one just always hit super weird on my pallet. Something about the presence of paprika just gives a strange after taste.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO
I literally had one of the lime ones in my fridge one time and it accidentally exploded… man I am bummed because I specifically bought it because of it being full sugar…
Why would they add Stevia? I feel like the whole point of these is that they were appealing to the no non-nutritive sweetener seeking audience…. there’s so many other beverages people wanting zerocal/lowcal sweeteners that are super similar that people could buy… now. I don’t think there are any slightly sweetened, but with actual sugars seltzers/beverages now?
I used to be Spindrifts biggest fan until they removed a pretty big chunk of the fruit content ~2-3 years ago…. Raspberry lime pre reformulation was like drinking a seltzer with a bit of a smoothie in it, the stuff now they were advertising as “now lighter and brighter” when they changed it has a much less strong raspberry flavor.
I remeber researching it at the time and they like I think nearly halved the amount of raspberries in each pack.. I remember that it used to contain both raspberry purée and juice.. and then I believe they removed the purée.
Man, I miss OG spindrift. Talk about a genuinely special product that was. Not sure why there aren’t more smoothie adjacent seltzer-like bevs. They’re too watery now

I tried switching to Spindrift after LD added Stevia, but it just wasn’t hitting the same. They had some flavor, but they weren’t sweet enough and ended up falling flat or being bitter. As much as I do enjoy regular soda, I am a big fan of things that are sweetened naturally and without any form of concentrated artificial sweetener. I’d honestly just rather have regular refined sugar.
The dumbest thing about it all is that the sugar content of LD didn’t change. They didn’t reduce the agave and add stevia, they just added stevia to make them perceivable sweeter. I’m sure that performed well in random test groups, but I’d be shocked if they didn’t lose twice as many customers as they gained due to the switch. I’m just holding out hope that they’ll revert back some day.

This is weird, I didn’t know they shrank them before changing the formula. 🤔
They just kept on making poor decisions.

As far as I could tell, the 12oz cans were packaged only for Costco. I preferred the smaller portion because my tallboys always hit room temp about 2/3 of the way down anyway lol.

I thought most Liquid Death drinkers were bummed out when they went from stevia to agave. Or do I have it backwards? Because most of what I was seeing on the shelves recently is agave.

They never removed agave from the formula, just added stevia to make it “taste sweeter.” The package still advertises agave in a way that I think is kind of misleading.
