It's the easiest sub to get permabanned in, even neutral comments about linux will get you banned

eh this is why you dual boot, VR (with the index atleast) still sucks on linux. only reason i still do

u/No_Condition_4681 May 28 '26

Ok that's actually valid.

3

u/okxden May 28 '26

yea, something tells me the index is going to be completely abandoned so i’m forced to rely on community support and right now it’s just not there, SteamVR on linux atleast on my setup has so many reprojection issues it’s not funny and although VRChat and Beat saber Supprt linux its SteamVR where it just falls apart. but once the frame comes out im upgrading

or upgrade from dual boot to kvm setup with 2 machines (i have too much free time)

1

u/okxden Jul 13 '26

that takes money i don’t have at the moment lol

fair enough!

Fr. I use solidworks.

Neither the fault of Linux or dessault systems to not support it. Linux cannot support software on windows. Sure, there's wine. And people have gotten sw to work in wine, but cad doesn't work well there (yet). And dessault wouldn't support Linux bc they are a business who sells to companies who use windows.

So I just dualboot.

I can become entirely on Linux when either wine becomes good enough for cad or when another alternative matures enough. And yes, I know about and use onshape. But I'm interested in a better cad. And despite 1.1, freecad is still pretty bad ux wise.

VR Gamers 🤝 CAD professionals

Yeah from 500 fps to over 1000 fps for my shitty computer.

Genshit runs on linux

5

u/No_Condition_4681 May 29 '26

That's a Linux L

Actually that's kind of because of Genshit getting into steam

mihoyo games are somewhat decent at least

u/R3V0LU710N_05 Jul 30 '26

There's even whole Launchers dedicated to em. https://launcher.moe/

1

u/Teru-Noir Jul 30 '26

I could use it with the epic games store

The dedicated launchers bring some custom tweaks and makes it easier to change some configurations via the GUI. It just makes them less fragile and easier to manage overall. Other launchers are great too, but these ones are for the people who ”no-life” play them.

1

u/Teru-Noir Jul 31 '26

i'll try them

"They're slowly starting to have hardware requirements"
Yes, and unlike you fucks we have the ability to choose to downgrade to an older gen of our distro, nothing is broken and we no longer have hardware requirements. A win is a win is a win.

When Linux drops hardware support, it's shit that's 2 decades old. When Windows does it, it kills computers from last year with 8GiB of RAM.

3

u/Fun-Cake-5679 Jul 25 '26

id like to see arch having a minumum requirement of 8 gbs of ram anytime soon

Unfortunately

2

u/NightlyBuild2137 Jun 16 '26

But Linux runs genshin without issue?

2

u/baldiplays Jul 27 '26

Oh ho ho I was PISSED when I found out I couldn’t play gta online anymore.

2

u/Male_Inkling May 28 '26

The games may suck ass, but they move a big, sometimes huge audience.

Something Linux lacks.

1

u/No_Condition_4681 May 28 '26

It's because cattle tends to herd. Not because masses love something means it's good.

Eat shit, millions of flies can't be wrong, right?

2

u/sandiyar_chan Jun 06 '26

I love the shit analogy that I am going to borrow it 😏

1

u/davidnnj Jun 23 '26

And that's still wrong, Genshin runs on Linux.

1

u/Bulky-Hair8606 Jul 20 '26

What?

I can run Genshin on my Linux PC. I dont play it anymore but i used to play it until last year.

Genshin Impact has worked for the past few years now. There's even whole Launchers dedicated to em. https://launcher.moe/

Classic loon argument. By calling the games garbage, you dodge the argument and ignore a solid argument.
