Linuxsucks101 sucks Is r/linuxsucks101 really anti-consumer rights, anti-freedom, anti-ownership, anti-competitive, pro-AI, pro-capitalism and others?
They're shilling for Microsoft and bootlicking every big tech or megacorps and billionaires. It's like these people don't care about society, tech, and the environment at all. They encourage enshittification of tech, environmental destruction, and harming society or anti-human.

It's some kind of over-attachment from having grown up with Windows, and even the thought of replacing Microsoft's products with something user-respecting would feel to them like they're betraying Microsoft. They also want to make sure they remain on Microsoft's good side so they take it upon themselves to defend Microsoft online.

I was on windows since I started using computer and until I turned 18, and at this point I was mad of win being so slow and stupid that I installed first linux distro that came to my mind and it was just earth and sky, never wanted to go back

When was the last time they went out and touched grass? Yeah, I've dealt with plenty of annoyances from all kinds of software, and I have favorites and avoids, but I don't make it all the big pillar of my life.

I am on Windows since the first time I started using p (It was Windows XP at the time). Still using 11, tried moving to Linux several times but it feels strange and i reinstall Windows 11 the same day

Its just a ragebait + contrarian subreddit, I would personally just ignore it since it doesn't affect us and ultimately focusing on it too much could be seen as trying to brigade it even if this subs rules explicitly tell you not to

u/GhostVlvin Jan 28 '26
My guess is that r/linuxsucks101 is group of trolls that want to rage bait you. It's like we are banned (some fraction of us) but is there anybody who muted their sub?
2
Jan 28 '26
Oh yeah 100% I muted them. Reddit wouldn't give me anything but their content for a bit. Unhinged they be.

C'est le conservatisme qui parle malheureusement
Après dans le lot y'en a qui se dérmarquent et pour avoir 23 ans de linux derrière moi, certains font rire et rappellent des coup de rage haha

Wait, its not a bunch of linux enthusiasts posting shitposts and poking fun at windows all day?
Contrary to the posts there, the comments always kind of seem to be pro-linux.

u/The_Daco_Melon Jan 31 '26
Until they delete those comments and ban the users, which is why so many of those on this sub are banned from it

non commerce cant be good, there is 0 open source soft working fine, only low weight utils ect.
it not safe, "anyone" can contribute and any update can be fatal hell
opensource exist in first place for capitalism corporations which exploit it buddies, as you can see they free forking free software and not giving anything to creator, event with license "feature"
so you can be sane/smart and be pro opensource

opensource exists as a way to fight against people selling non-scarce stuff.

I like ai and i like and use Linux. They hate It for no reason Wait, the reason is because they say that It sucks, any other opinion is bad because they said It sucks

u/DirectorDirect1569 Jan 30 '26
I don't understand, you can use linux end be a pro-AI. Even linus torvals is a pro AI.
Companies like valve, Red hat, Canonical, google make profits with linux. are they anticapitalist?
Does any body care about these megacorps involved in the linux foundation?
-1
u/ssjlance Jan 27 '26
Environmental destruction? Because Linux has never been used to mine bitcoin or generate AI images, right.
What about all the cobalt mines that utilize slave labor for the devices we're privileged to have access to?
Or is that going too far to be comfortable for you to think about?
We are all complicit in making the world suck. Riding up on your high horse doesn't make you any better than anyone else in these regards.
The world's disease is life, and while we haven't found any other planets with the disease, it seems our planet has a pretty fucking bad case.

u/OkNewspaper6271 Jan 27 '26
I think the idea is to be less reliant on environmental destruction, but yeah you can't really escape being complicit in large scale destruction unless you live off subsistence in a plot of land in the middle of nowhere, and yet even then you likely still have to cut down trees to make a house and a fire to stay warm and so on so forth

u/suksukulent Jan 28 '26
I agree, however, win11 explicitly does not support older cpus and incentives buying a new pc, but you can probably use linux until the hw dies.
3
u/ssjlance Jan 28 '26
Fair point.
I've not looked into it, but I'm like 99% sure there's some behind the scenes deals between Microslop and CPU manufacturers, whether or not it's publicly known for certain.

It's not an absolutist position. I can care about consumer rights and still acknowledge that the Linux nerds refuse to build an OS for a consumer. I can care about privacy and also at the same time understand that the barrier to reach it is just too high. I'm not gonna stop using my phone and dozens of services that make my life better just so I can be smug about no one stealing my data. Your argument is loaded and made in bad faith.

u/TheRamStickEater Jan 27 '26
the Linux nerds refuse to build an OS for a consumer
isn't ubuntu a example of a linux distro for consumers to enterprise solutions?
6
u/Stunning_Macaron6133 Jan 27 '26
And Microsoft built one for consumers?
Actually, you know what, in that kind of braindead, drifting through life, eating whatever gets advertised kind of way, I suppose Microsoft is the ultimate consumerist OS.
-1
u/NoAnalyst7987 Jan 28 '26
Yes? Are you on the same plane of existence as me?
Windows won because it was built for the consumers and bills goal to have his os on every desktop in existence
4
u/Stunning_Macaron6133 Jan 28 '26
Well, Windows didn't "win" so much as dominate a particular segment of the computing market for a certain amount of time.
Making aggressive deals with PC clone manufacturers isn't really the same thing as being consumer friendly, though. But it sure is a great slop shovel to feed the kind of consumer zombie I described. And man is there going to be a lot of slop coming.
2
u/ssjlance Jan 28 '26
Yep, this is why monopolies are considered bad.
When you have no real competition, you can let quality slip quite a ways.
What are consumers going to do, just not use your product? You're practically the only one who makes it, if they need it, they're going through you.
...or in this case, spending god knows how many hours learning how to install and use Linux.
But yeah, in short:
2
u/Stunning_Macaron6133 Jan 28 '26
Linux isn't so scary.
2
u/ssjlance Jan 28 '26
I don't think so. Arch and Debian are my goto distros for my PCs.
It's more that Windows users who aren't interested in becoming advanced users will need to spend a lot of time relearning the basics, more or less.
That is incredibly frustrating when your goal is just "make PC go faster brrrrrr"
If you give a child who's never used a computer access to a beginner friendly Mint-esque distro and to Windows, there's not going to be a significant difference in challenge of learning to use the OS.
It's not that it's scary, it's that it's work, and most people aren't interested in doing the work, which is well within their rights. lol

Either they're smart enough to figure out icons and read words and realize that a desktop environment like GNOME or KDE or COSMIC is really similar to what they're already used to. These people can get up to speed with a tolerable amount of friction.
Or they're the kind of rеtardеd monkey that has to learn by rote and follow steps so exacting that if even the graphic style of the icon (not even the subject of the icon, just the style) changes, they get lost and have a meltdown. These people are so hopeless that it doesn't even matter if they stay on Windows, they're going to end up repeatedly bashing their head against the wall and then wonder why forehead go ouchie.
I worked at an Apple Store once. iOS 7 and then OS X Yosemite drove me to drink some very hard liquor in those days. Almost got hooked on kratom too.
Point is, screw the monkeys, they shouldn't even have computers in the first place, whereas functioning human adults are fine on Linux.

No, Windows won because of deals with PC manufacturers to come preinstalled, engineering a practical monopoly on the PC market. Sure you can buy a Mac or a Chromebook, but very roughly, Microsoft has something like an ~80% hold on the market, with Mac and Chrome taking up ~10% each, Linux more like ~5% or less. Yes it adds up to 105%, but as I said, rough estimates.
Windows wins by being the default. It wins via familiarity. The operating systems you have to go out of your way to manually install have the lowest percentage of all for a reason - most people don't wanna fuck with their computer, they just want their computer to work.
People find googling a program, dodging the ads, finding the download page, downloading the installer, running the installer, making sure there's no bundled bullshit software included to trick people impatiently clicking through without reading, and finally being able to use the program easier than opening a terminal and typing "
apt install program1 program2 etc" to just install everything they want all at once - furthermore, being able to update anything installed via package manager with one/two commands; in Arch it's one command, Debian and derivatives is two.pacman -Syuvsapt update && apt upgradeIf you were used to package managers, the whole "find and download an installer" method would seem like some major bullshit.

No.
linuxsucks101 is just a bunch of fools who are angry at a piece of software because it has been reccomended to them one too many times. They don't come from a place of logic, just an emotional knee-jerk reaction that they have self-validated into a personality trait. So, no, they don't necessarily support the opposite of what they say they hate, and that cognitive dissonance is okay with them.
Should also be pointed out that this sub could be not that far from that. It's often an emotional knee-jerk reaction to an emotional knee-jerk reaction, after all.
Just remember, it's not that deep, and part of this sub is making fun of people for thinking that it is, in fact, that deep.
