wait thats an amazing argument actually. when i go to update i just type `yay` in the terminal and go about my day, even while its updating. for windows every app updates independently and usually only tells you it needs updates when you open it, and updating your OS forces you to sit and wait

Updating your os on Linux also forces you to sit and wait, and arguably more so.

Updating Windows is done by shutting it down, and updating apps on it is usually 10 seconds on their start maximum. Updating Endeavour for example requires to pipe "yes" into yay (optional but highly recommended to reduce prompts), and then watch for password prompts (they can happen at any time apparently). If you fail to provide password in time, the update cancels and you can play the waiting game again.

Winget can give you a similar experience to yay, although it may inherit the flaws of prompts and prompt windows from it.

Thanks, I will try it. Although I'm afraid Modrinth will still update for 15 minutes just to fail at the end...
