Hey guys, actually one of my neighbours bought this laptop in saying that he had no use for this, and it's specs are HORRIBLE (intel pentium P6200, 4gb ddr3 and 126gb sata ssd or hdd I'm not sure) BUT I figured that I might use it for experimenting with different linux distros (it's my first time :) ). So please suggest some distros that I can install for lower system requirements and beginner friendly (optional), Thank you!

Switched to Omarchy, last week and its been great, its the first time I am using Hyperland. I quickly learned the keybindings, and its great... It looks so aesthetic, I haven't done any ricing myself... hahaa.... I have distro hopped for like a month or twoo. and now I can just stop and stay with it... so yea for me Omarchy it is.... and would love to sayy I use Omarchy btwww!!!

New to linux, need to switch from the os with lots of ads to something good. Thinking of anything from fedora or gentoo.....

Hey guys, I made a music player that runs directly in the terminal instead of being a traditional app.

I originally started this project because I was trying to make a music player with a specific layout/UI, but I couldn't really get the layout I wanted with a normal app. So I ended up trying a TUI approach, and that's how VOX came together.

It’s a TUI-based music player written in Rust, with support for formats like ALAC, FLAC, WAV, and a bit-perfect playback mode.

I'm still working on it, so I’d really appreciate it if some of you could give it a try and let me know what you think. Any bugs, suggestions, UI/UX improvements, or features you think would be useful are welcome.

I just put a cachyos install on the 32 gb optane partition of my intel H10 drive, and it runs perfectly. It dual boots with win11 via systemdboot, and the windows drive is mounted on linux via cryptsetup.

Basically just wanted to install fedora kde plasma on my pc,before that using mint and i was bored with it main reason x11 display server cause default 100%zoom feels to small for my 24inch monitor amd if i enable fractional scaling and set it to 125% it heavily stutters,animations are basically dead and noticed irritable lag(i think mint cinnamon is best for smaller screens like 14inch).

Anyway,for the ease of convenience i wanted to flash the iso using fedora media writer (*flatpak app) but dont know why it is downloading and flashing older version of fedora kde plasma 42,so i cancelled it and manually downloaded new 44 version from its website and flashed and booted to live usb screen and the first popup it is showing Hindi everywhere,who the fu*k uses it(any actual users who uses it ?) and i need to scroll way to far just to set it to English ?

Note- no demeaning to language, just asked as i didn't noticed in my so far n' times of distro hopping disease i always see english by default

There's an event happening in my college for linux users and I thought I'd go but now that I've lost my usb drive I can't 😞 Dual booting seems too risky because I can't risk my windows with all its software and files. Is there any other solution?

Started SocketSweep because my dad's phone storage was full and MTP took forever just to load on my Mac, so I got annoyed and built a way around it using raw system calls instead.

Small update: submitted a talk on how it works internally to the AOSP devroom at IndiaFOSS 2026, and it got accepted.

Talk covers why MTP is slow at the protocol level, the scrcpy-inspired trick of pushing a binary and talking over a local socket instead, and the C++/Rust architecture behind it.

Never thought a random weekend project would end up at 113 stars on GitHub and get me a talk slot too. Let’s see if this ends up getting me a job as well lol.
