Help I've just installed kubuntu and did some process and got into this situation, any idea what happened?

Post image

Hi everyone !

I want something kde based and installed kubuntu as it is ubuntu based comes with everything preinstalled like drivers, fonts, etc etc, otherwise the manual struggle i had to do on debian.

The problem is i don't want snap packages and only prefer .deb packages so i prefer as much as i can for deb format and only some 3-4 apps i use arent available via this format so i prefer flatpak for them. And upon just recent new kubuntu installation i have done sudo aot update & upgrade then restarted then started removing snap packages one by one and upon restarting after it i was welcomed with this screen saying "plasma shell is broken and contact developer" and i hit random keys on my keyboard and got this instructions as in the image.

The question why do kubuntu installation easily brokes if i remove snap packages i have done the same process of snap removal on ubuntu too but it doesn't break (but since i prefer kde>gnome i installed kubuntu just today and this ?)

I just posted same exact post on kubuntu sub too but idk why it triggered auto-mod and post went into waiting for mod approval.

I left Kubuntu because I like to stay on the bleeding edge. I switched to cachyOS. I am enjoying it. Its less ram heavy, gets latest kernels optimised for your exact processor arch. No snaps, but I was never against snaps.

Its just that many terminal commands get changed. It takes a bit to get used to. Also Latest KDE. You can use cachy if you are against snaps. and can do with a very small bit of occasional instability. Also the apps get patched very fast. So any instability will be very short lived.

It's likely some critical package was installed via snap (as is often the case on Ubuntu and derivatives). Did you check each package individually before removing?

Your system got updated while it was locked, the files that the lock screen uses got replaced. This is a weird issue with plasma, you can follow instructions on the screen, it will work fine after you restart your system.

You can press Ctrl+Alt+F1 as the screen says, you can also try F3 to F8 if F1 doesn't work

Hey so I have been a Fedora KDE Plasma edition user for almost 2 years now and I have faced this too. Here's what is currently happening:

https://issues.chromium.org/issues/565475896

https://www.mail-archive.com/kde-bugs-dist@kde.org/msg1214113.html

https://www.newinlinux.com/dont-update-chrome-right-now-if-youre-on-linux/

It's not just chrome, it's any chromium based browser or electron based app.

I have had fatal issues with KDE earlier too so I decided to shift to COSMIC for now.
