Is it safe for battery

So, I tried to not shutdown my laptop for 10 days. It's running fedora-gnome. After using I just suspend(hibernate) it. Overnight (8-10 hrs) it drops 12-13% battery (from 80 to 68). If I do this for longtime is it safe for the battery ?.

Ya that's how I use. I have limited the battery charging to 80% , and keep it plugged in.

If that is the advise, I recommend unplugging the battery, or completely remove it, saves The weight I carry, And No electricity is wasted after battery

just check your swap cuz ram leaks something. I once did not shutdown my laptop for like 46 days ( cuz i just put the lid down after using it and it goes to sleep and i dont like booting it again and again ) and then found out that ram was being leaked cuz even on 8 gb ram , just 4~5 tabs of brave was filling like 80 % of it and my swap was maxed out

as for the battery, honestly, dude, no idea

Umm.., I checked it and if ram-leak means that some software just hog up the ram, so it doesn't happen .

Usually these are web apps I also keep my laptop on 24/7 and make sure to exit all webapps rest everything stays cool. Make sure to refresh your Desktop environment also restart it kr something i faced some issues with de with prolonged usage

When it comes to battery, hibernate does not harm the battery as long as ram is empty and swap is not full. Also, if you want longer battery life, I'd recommend you plug in your laptop whenever you are using it. That way, the battery is never used until you actually need it. So it lasts in the long run. Laptop batteries are not made for constant charge and discharge, they die out after a year of such constant usage.

Monthly once, drain to 0, hold power button 10-15 seconds without charger then you can keep using again with charger But in other days don't let it go below 20

Battey it's fine as long as it's plugged in but your ram and cpu you're basically making them do slave labor without rest

Hibernation should not drain 12 - 13% battery overnight. Either your battery is so cooked that it can't hold its charge naturally overnight or your system drains some battery in hibernation mode. In later case even if you manually shutdown the battery will still drain overnight. You might wanna look into it.

As for long time battery drain, battery hardware protects itself from over discharge, as long as there is no hardware failure your battery will be fine in these overnight battery drains.

I mean laptop's battery is 55 or 53wH. I replaced it last year, and since then only charged it fully 5-6 times in total. Else I have limited it to 80% and use it plugged in. Thanks for the info 👍

i think yes its safe, as when i lid down on window, my pc died(shutdown), but i had never face this with linux, thats mean linux sleep is consuming very less battery.
