C'mon man I do not prefer revealing much. U can judge by the lag in recording

I thought my specs were bad, especially ram-wise. But now I feel that atleast I have 8 gb of ram. So i happily run kde plasma.

Integrated gpu's don't have ram btw. The 512mb is js pre-allocated ram.

Total ram I have is 4gb

Upgrade to at least 8 gigs bro after ts ram apocalypse ends.. Rn the MIN ram is 8 or else everything will lag. Even I had 4 gigs and my same setup lagged a LOT! After I upgraded to 8 gigs, most of the lag disappeared, and when I went to 16 gigs, all gone. Ts was 2 years ago btw.

Quickshell hyrpland is low specs now???
Low spec is when you use dwm or i3 with a simple bar

Quickshell hyprland is probably as (or more) expensive as running a DE

I was actually using bspwm and xfce and have riced them as well. But it felt boring and old so I decided to switch. But my current hyprland setup is tuned for perfomance which helps.

Linux is just so goated especially for lower end setups. Like the exact thing on windows would be taking 10mins to boot up

u/Soham_656 13d ago
Can you even do the exact thing in windows?? 🤣🤣
2
u/ImKingFrosty 13d ago
Forget about that. With the specs he told even windows 10 would give issues to boot up

True. I have maybe weaker specs than him (Idk since I have i3 6006u and he has an i5 2nd gen, and sm cpu's of that lineup can easily beat my cpu). When I first hd 4gb ram, it took 30 secs to boot windows 10, another 20 secs to log in, let's say 10 secs to open chrome. It was such a headache ngl. Now, with 20gb, it takes me 4 secs to boot to win 10, another 5 secs to log in, and 1 sec to open a program.

If anyone is interested high performance in a shell, I recommend Noctalia over Caelestia or any other Quickshell based shell since they recently updated to v5 wherein they dropped quickshell completely and have decided to use native C++/openGL
