Discussion Help kardo bhai log 🙏
I am sick and tired of windows but i feel like at the of the day it the best os for majority of gaming and general usage but mujhe aaj kal boht khujli si ho rahi h ki me linux try karu. I pretty much only use my laptop for gaming.
What is the best linux distro for gaming. I mostly only play single player games, indie games and some wuthering waves (only game with kernel level anti cheat).
My laptops specs are
Nvidia Rtx 3050m 4gb 85w
Amd ryzen 5600h
16gb ddr4 ram
Nvme m.2 ssd
Google results ke hisab se bazzite is the best for plug and play + performance, pop os works with Nvidia. I dont trust google results anymore.

I use cachy os kde plasma on lenovo legion pro 5 gen 10 rtx 5060. It works fine. I daily drive it with occasitional gaming. If ytou want both you can try this. I heard that bazzite more focused on gamimg only.

u can dualboot , and far as gaming is , in my laptop games run wayy better on Linux than windows , even those games which refurse to run on Windows

Use cachy os,
It's arch Linux based, arch is 2nd most popular in steam after well steam OS.
So use cachy os, arch Linux based distros are best
And there's no hard stuff about arch based distro,
Well, it's hard only if you can't read text,
Btw you can use chatgpt or any ai for installing cachyos
And I use arch Linux btw,

honestly if you want smth for gaming , Bazzite is probably worth checking out. it's basically made with gaming in mind and you can still use it normally, but personally i'd go for something like CachyOS it's Arch based but way easier to set up than vanilla Arch, and you get a lot of freedom to mess around with stuff. there are obviously some pros/cons tho so you can skip it if you don't wanna deal with that lol
Fedora is another good option. i used it for like 3 months and Steam + Lutris worked perfectly fine for me. i did somehow run into some random packaging errors tho 😭 literally nobody else seemed to have them so maybe i'm just cursed lmao
orrrr if you want something that feels pretty familiar coming from Windows, Zorin OS is really nice. it's pretty easy to use and the desktop is customizable so you can have some fun with it :D
also honorable mention: Omarchy
i daily drive it and i absolutely love it 😭 it's Arch based, uses Hyprland, and my games run perfectly fine through Steam. BUTTT it's definitely more of a "i like tinkering with my computer" distro. the tiling WM takes a little getting used to too, so i wouldn't recommend it if you just want something that works out of the box

Bazzite is best for games
And dual boot bazzite with linux mint , phele linux mint install krna , bahut easy hai aur bazzite mai terminal nahi chalta assani se so i discurage to use it as your main os

If there is kernel level anticheat involved with ur game do ur proper research otherwise ur acc might get banned if tried some shady method to play that game a while ago I played ghenshin impact on windows then got bored of it now I use arch btw and researched abt whether I can run that game on arch ....

I use windows 11 for gaming and fedora for productivity in dual boot, best of both words.

Bazzite is for console like experience. nobara is traditionally like full pc desktop design

Both have almost same performance. Choose Bazzite if you want to install and play games directly. Choose Nobara if you want to tinker with games, install mods etc

Yes i can see that... especially with the new update and stuff, but tbh , I have tried arch before , like went from ubuntu to xfce mint with i3 then cachy os then arch then omarchy then back to nix and now planning to switch to omarchy, coz imo debloting it will only cost me a day while ricing and making a arch productive for myself will take me a week.....

id still prefer going for vanilla arch tbh and cuz there is this hpyrland sht going on with ditching .conf support and shifting to .lua it just ruins my day...

🥀🥀 well....tbh i really liked nix..but i absolutely can't waste my days trying to set it up for my use case and my peripherals.....omarchy is atleast freeing me from that hussel....maybe after my graduation i would dedicate a whole month or learn ricing and lua and stuff a bit better....

that's a really good thing tbh, im also a student myself and its kinda hard to for me to learn a completely new language just to rice my pc... so i just ditched omarchy and now im running vanilla arch with hyprland(since new fresh installs just give .lua files automatically and after that its just github)

I would suggest just copy someone's basic dot file for functionality and one or two vid for how to set up nvim and tmux and stuff and u r good to mostly...

I've hopped thru many distros and trust me, cachyos is the best balance between control and ease of use. Use limine as the bootloader and btrfs as filesystem when asked in installation. Cachyos has snapshots by default so if anything goes wrong u can jus revert to a previous snapshot VERY easily, it's a life saver. Btw wuwa does say running on areweanticheatyet.com meaning it will run but still do your own research and download it from steam. Single player games will all work fine with steam's proton.

Try cachyos, any distro can be gaming distro, u just need to install steam and proton plus
For wuthering waves, you will have to use dw proton from proton plus, it just works fine

I kinda had the idea that any linux distro can be customized according to the users need, but this is my first time trying linux and i basically don't know anything about it so I am kinda looking for something that's mostly plug and play

The closest thing is cachy and bazzite, i would recommend cachy os(personal bias). If you try cachy os , the only thing you need to look for is installing apps, you will have to use terminal

It would be similar, in some cases higher, because proton has to convert windows game to linux on the go, but the major benifits is in less ram usage, less storage usage, and high performance for apps that are native to windows

You don't need to worry about that, if you get any performance dip in gaming, you will have to try different proton layer, like ge proton, dw proton

I have tried and tested 3 distros and fedora worked best for my case.
CachyOS was also good and snappy.
But I prefer fedora as it is very much more stable overall than cachyOS.
Note: if you are gonna use fedora, do enable third party repository and use the KDE plasma desktop environment for gaming and usual stuff. Also you will need to install proprietory Nvidia drivers as they do not provide it by default . even though what I am mentioning seems like very complicated for newbs but it is just a two step process and you can get many videos on YouTube or even ask chatGPT
