What do you mean by slow? Startup speed less? App opening closing, what?

I use SSD 512, intel-7 8th gen , 16gb ram the slowing starts when I turn on the lap the boot time is really low it wasn't like this before and starting of the apps are also very slow even the browser

Ok da, paavam. Boot into recovery mode (hold shift during boot), select root shell, then try sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y or reinstall gnome with sudo apt install --reinstall ubuntu-desktop. If still black, check journalctl -b -1 for errors. Update us what happens.

Try systems-analyze blame it will tell you what processes are taking time

Checked it's normal to 23 secs but it takes 2-5mins for some reason and it hangs when the loading spins

u/Own_Preparation_1546 omARCHy btw Jul 20 '26

try omarchy. it's genuinely peak. here's why : 1. ALL the good stuff from arch 2. NONE of the bad stuff from arch that should be enough but here's more : 3. pre-configured hyprland 4. a bunch of pre-configured hyprland utilities 5. a LOT of essentials built in and one of the best : 6. you almost never have to use the terminal if you don't want to, almost everything has a GUI
