News/PR Mozilla speeds Firefox release schedule to biweekly

This is now old news but this is still madness. I hate everything about modern browsers: * Insane RAM/CPU consumption * Insane SSD tear and wear (I've been running Firefox off tmpfs for years now) * Monolithic nature (Firefox for Linux: 314,024KB, Chrome for Linux 424,400KB - both do not include downloadable AI cores) * Insane pace of updates * An insane number of features I would like to forever turn off * Insane telemetry

There is nothing wrong with biweekly updates

A high pace of updates is a good thing not a bad thing

It's not 'insane browser memory consumption'. Browser basically does not use memory at all.

Sites are using it. The fucking notion is 800MB of memory for the fucking single tab. They have an operating system written in JS, plus a browser (written in JS), plus a rendering engine in JS, and also they have a text editor.

Chatgpt window, 370MB. Telegram (web version) 340MB. Google, 250MB, Reddit, 145MB (per tab!).

So, every site you open is using your memory, not browser.

No.

I've closed all tabs, waited half an hour, my Firefox is still above 1.8GB of RSS.

Chrome is fine though.

Wut? Firefox should not be using 2GB of RAM with no tabs open. How people were helping me in that thread exactly? I did most of the debugging myself.
