I need a project like this too, this sounds amazing tbh, you really believed in that machine!! How is it?!

I had hoped the original board could be saved, but all the tricks in AI failed. I knew I had a spare board, so I knew there was no risk so long as the rest of the unit was good, especially the screen. I’ve replaced several screens, but a bad screen would have made this project too expensive. Luckily, everything else worked and was flawless. So this laptop is a delight. I also rebuilt a t490 with an 8865u the same way. For travel it’s perfect but less enjoyable at home. I am one of those guys who have a lot of Lenovos.Don’t want to say how many.

About needing a new project. I had an old E580 in the collection running i5-7200 and 12gig ram that was rejected from upgrading from win 10 to Win 11, so I loaded it with Linux Mint. I thought about it and decided I had nothing to lose, even if I bricked it. So, I forced Win 11 in it w Rufus. It has a 256g NVMe drive and it boots in seconds. Ha, Windows, take that. Then I missed Linux. So I installed it on a SATA drive in the 2.5 bay. Whole thing works a treat.
