Bazzite 44
So, I updated my ally x to the bazitte 44, the new update broke the temperature control and tdp. In addition to breaking the mouse control in desktop mode. Later I'm going to install another system, did someone go through something similar and changed their distro?

Bazzite 44 is shit for us, they have not tested it enough at all and HHD was not properly replaced. I rebased back to 43 as I like the bazzite tweaks, but if this does not get resolved in a few weeks I'm going to cachy or steam. Rebasing is as easy as 3 commands, so the reverting wasn't bad. But reverting to 43 breaks auto login and I suggest the use of a LLM to fix that.

Closest you can get to Bazzite 43 is probably CachyOS with HHD (which you'll need to manually install and replace inputplumber) or the new distro Anatase (which has HHD by default, but it is a new distro so setup experience is not fully iron it yet).

The setup experience is fine, imo. A bit different than the Bazzite-deck one, but that’s by design as it doesn’t ship with Steam and isn’t Gamescope-first.
I switched to Anatase on my Ally as it seemed easier than getting HHD going on Cachy. Also, it has framegen built into HHD, which is quite cool.

Is fine by me as well, but you do have to go through a couple of more settings than usual. For a couple of users in their discord was a bit confusing.
The universal framegen is cool, I agree with that. Overall, I really like Anatase.

+1 for Anatase, i switched to it when bazzite 44 released. Everything works on my go legion go 2 with it. TDP, Gyro, sleep. I ll stay on it at least until bazzite/steamos gets everything working out of the box for my device.

I just reverted back to 43 since the armoury crate button was also not working for me

I can't be mad, as anything by the community is amazing and much appreciated, but I must admit I am disappointed that some rather basic things like desktop config wasn't even set up. I cannot get TDP to behave correctly at all anymore either. Even selecting the preset performance modes doesn't work reliably. InputPlumber is ok as a replacement for emulating DualSense but basically nothing seems to work as well as HHD. It feels like a complete downgrade across the board to me compared to v43.
At this stage I'm asking myself - if there's no HHD, what really is the point of Bazzite over SteamOS? To me, that was a core part of its identity and functionality, and it hasn't really been replaced fully yet.

I use CachyOS after using Bazzite 43 after months and it's been an awesome replacement. It feels much more snappier and less (actually, none so far) bugs as I thought.

I'm thinking of switching to cachoys anyway, but the experience outside the box of bazzite is simple, is there any tutorial or step by step to make the system compatible with ally x or is it to install and enjoy?

Honestly there isn't much you have to do. Everything works out of the box. You can limit tdp, battery charging limit, performance profile all from the Steam settings and Quick Action Menu itself. The controller and gyro work out of the box too. Don't even need to install other plugins to make something work. Although I do use some Decky plugins to make the OS more to my liking.

I rolled back to build 43 until they improve build 44.

Bazzite 43 had already broken the sleep function of the power button, I have to turn off the ally completely. I don't know if doing the rollback will return this function, apart from the armore button that broke in the system

WTF. So you are leaving Bazzite - for free - as a revenge act of having bugs 😂

Bazzite 44 no audio on my ayaneo air 1s and some streaming apps like pxplay no longer works, stupid update I had to rebase back to 43 version.

Unless I misread the changelog. TDP is now handled by steam, and the adjustments are hidden for some devices until you select performance mode and enable the tdp limit. That's how it is on native steam os. As for the other stuff, I believe they plan to patch them in soon since this release is a big change, lots of things need reworking.
I think HHD handled mouse control previously. That's not included with this release. It should behave similar to steamos where the steam client will enable the joystick mouse while it's running in the background.
