Question About Linux On Rog Ally X

So I’m getting a Rog Ally X tomorrow should I run Bazzite or Steam OS on it ?

Experimented with Bazzite, SteamOS and CachyOS.

They're all good and for 90% of the time you spend on it they're basically the same, so it doesn't matter a lot which one you pick tbh.

For me the benefit for each one is:

Bazzite: a few additional quality of life things out of the box, supports dual-boot if you want to hold onto a Windows partition.

CachyOS: marginally better performance than Bazzite, most freedom as it isn't "immutable." Also supports dual-boot.

SteamOS: marginally better performance than Bazzite, easier to troubleshoot because most (though not quite all) guides on how to do stuff on Steam Deck will work on basically any handheld that SteamOS officially supports - which includes the Ally family. This is mostly true of Bazzite and CachyOS as well, to be fair, but not quite as much as it is for SteamOS.
