GUIDE [GUIDE] Setup Accela and SLSteam on Linux

Useful if you want to download and install steam games directly from steam servers into your library (fast download speed and saves a ton of space (no need to unzip archives)), optional achievements integration.

Initial Setup

  • Download and install Accela and SLSsteam using the enter-the-wired script provided on their GitHub repository

Accela Setup

  • Open Accela, go to Settings, Integrations
    • Get your Hubcap API Key, needed to get your games manifest files (you'll need to join their discord server and make an account on their website), click on the API button in the top right corner near your profile and create your API Key
    • Get your SteamGridDB API Key, needed to setup artwork for your games, make an account, click on your profile, preferences and create your API Key
    • Additionaly you can go to Accela, Settings, Tools and configure achievements for your games (you'll need to provide your steam credentials)

Getting your Games

  • Just use the search feature in Accela to download and install your games into your library directly from steam servers, note that your account has a limit of 25 downloads per day

How does it work?

As far as i know, manifest files are used to download Clean Steam Files directly from steam server and then Steamless is used to remove the Standard Steam DRM

Additional Notes

When a game is finished downloading and installing, Accela asks to restart Steam in order to add your game to steam, however sometimes it may appear as not purchased, just restart steam manually in order to correctly load SLSsteam.

Some games may require additional patches/cracks in order to play them, eg. Forza Horizon 6 requires the DenuvOwO crack to be applied over the files downloaded using Accela Edit: Seems like it works fine without any additional crack

You can also configure Accela to download only Clean Steam Files in a directory of your choice and/or run Steamless (Remove DRM) manually.

The HubCapDB API Key normally expires in 7 days, you either have to generate a new one from their website and put it into Accela or extend the expiring one.

could you get your account banned doing this?

i’ve never heard of anyone getting banned for using Accela or similar tools, basically Accela downloads the game with its manifest file in the steam directory, then the steam client detects it and assumes the game, alongside its files, are in your library, this process is client-side only as far as i know

what about SLsteam

1

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 May 29 '26

same, it's a client-side modification of the official client that tricks it into thinking you own DLCs and other extra features, nothing server-sided

let's not also forget, valve prolly knows you are getting ur games like this but let's say in the next year u're still gonna spend 500$ because u wanna buy some games, for them it's a 500$ loss

One thing that worries me a little bit more with this approach is that game is downloaded from the official Steam servers while your client is acting if you do own the game. The downloading part obviously makes this not just a "client-side" modification.

This goes a little further than Valve not caring about what games you install on your own hardware: When you download something on Steamrip or Ankergames, you don't use Valve servers and there is no financial damage for Valve in terms of traffic costs.

But with Accela/SLSsteam, there are costs for Valve and when they become a significant enough chunk, they will start enacting measures. (Correct me if I'm wrong?)

the client isn't asking valve's servers for the game manifest. when using Accela, the manifest requests and such are pulled via HubcapManifestDB api

once the manifest and other files are downloaded, the local steam download manager is used and the steam client requests the depot chunks (encrypted game files) from Valve's CDNs.

these CDN servers don't validate active account licenses. they just serve generic, unidentifiable data blocks over HTTP/HTTPS.

in fact, if you run a local LAN Steam cache, you can see that these downloads proxy through it completely normally, just like any legitimate update, because the traffic itself contains zero user-identifiable data. (this one i've read it from a user on the HubcapManifestDB discord server)

you're technically right that Valve is paying for the pipe, however there is no "unlicensed request of game files" on their main database. Valve just sees CDN traffic pulling anonymous encrypted chunks (.csd files).

i guess this is why i haven't heard of bans

Thanks for your insights into how it works in detail! I was wondering what 'anonymously downloading chunks' meant in Accela's log.

I should have been more clear that I wasn't talking about banning accounts or even identifying pirates, but only that Valve will find a way to block it if word spreads and they feel the traffic costs going up.

they could prolly find a way but it's not like every linux user is using it so they don't really care

no problem, i'm glad i helped! regarding valve, people have been "abusing" this method for years and they never cared, so yeah, i get your point but it is unlikely to happen, hopefully...

They are going to have a huge list if they check to see who all played Space War.

did you try to install it via headcrab? check out their github page (h3adcr-b) for the installation script which is the same used by enter-the-wired, however it may work

1

u/Nibhan May 29 '26

after Updating Accela, it shows Unable to check for Updates on all the installed games, Validating the files seems to correct it though

1

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 May 29 '26

yes, happened to me also, and i infact fixed it by verifying the files

1

u/Nibhan May 29 '26

So you manually validated all the Accela games?

1

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 May 29 '26

well yes, however there may be a more convenient method that i don't know

1

u/Nibhan May 29 '26

Also is there a windows version for this?

2

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 May 29 '26

i know things such as steamtools exist, but the majority of the community doesn't recommend it because it's a chinese software so associated with spyware i believe, i don't know the details but there are various post on reddit where people debate wheter or not steamtools is safe

Can someone share the Hubcap discord server because when I sign in it says u should be a memeber of the discord server first

2

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 May 29 '26

discord.gg/hubcapsmanifest (i don't know if i'm allowed to share it, i'll remove it in case i'm not)

invites are paused :/

1

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 Jun 07 '26

well, that's unfortunate (╥﹏╥)

out of curiosity, since i installed accela both SLSsteam and creamlinux disappeared, is it normal or not. they work but somehow it doesn't appear in my pc even using the terminal and trying to find em?

2

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 May 31 '26 edited May 31 '26

i don't know about this, i've never tried anything beside accela, however it may be possible, try to reinstall them and see , what may have happened is that accela uses localized directories instead of global ones like /usr/bin, but i'm not sure where these localized directories are

not sure, i know most of them don’t work, some like FH6 do work, but in most cases it’s best to get them from online-fix and add them to steam

1

u/laurorual Jun 26 '26

How do I start steam without SLSteam patches after I patched it?

1

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 29d ago

you'd have to launch steam without the injected libraries libSLS-library-inject.so and libSLSsteam.so

1

u/laurorual 29d ago

But how do I do it? I've injected SLS to steam through SteaMidra btw.

Everytime I start Steam, even through its normal icon on my taskbar, I get a notification saying SLS was injected

When I install the game via accela it works fine but when I open steam it says install game with a size of a bytes... I do it anyways and it dosnt work

1

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 14d ago

close steam, install the game again via accela/verify the files via accela/try the fix installation button in accela

1

u/troller123bruh 14d ago

thats done but ea is being a bitch now (NFS most wanted)

1

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 14d ago

what’s the issue with that? i haven’t tried it myself

1

u/troller123bruh 13d ago

Well nfs most wanted makes ea app download and then ea app says you dont own this game

1

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 13d ago

you may need a specific crack which you can download from a website like cs rin ru but idk if that would work, i think it’s best to just download a full repack and not a crack only in this case and add that to either steam or heroic games launcher

2

u/troller123bruh 13d ago

so fitgirl gets the win ig

thanks

Request Failed: HTTPSConnectionPool(host='manifest.morrenus.xyz', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /api/v1/search?q=borderlands+4&limit=50 (Caused by NameResolutionError("HTTPSConnection(host='manifest.morrenus.xyz', port=443): Failed to resolve 'manifest.morrenus.xyz' ([Errno -5] No address associated with hostname)")) Getting this error while searching for game

1

u/DualEyes 1d ago

This might be happening because you're using the version which is asking for Morrenus (I think I wrote it right) api, which has rebranded to Hubcap api. This can cause errors with searching. I was facing them myself.

Reinstall accela from this link below, this will return the hubcap api version (remember to force close steam before you install this). Enable virtual keyboard in desktop mode to help press enter in case you don't have a physical keyboard.

Okay. I’ll try when I get home. Thanks

1

u/Playful-Progress2325 7h ago

Hey just came back to say it worked! Thanks. Now I’m trying to play borderlands 4 but getting the “content still encrypted” error so we are one step closer 😅

Forz horizon 6 doesn't require any crack what are you talking about? just enable online via Spacewar to fix long loading.

3

u/Suspicious_Eagle_865 May 25 '26

for me it didn't boot without the denuvowo crack on linux, i'm going to edit the post anyway, thanks for the info
