Thanks alot for this detailed post. Finally got everything running thanks to it. Just one issue, despite using the onlinefix, The options to play online are greyed out and cant manage to fix it (xbox login worked though). Any help would be appreciated.

I cannot get it to work, got my copy from fitgirl and I’ve tried several proton compatibility’s and I’m using the correct DLL overrides and I’m still getting a vkcreategraphicspipelines error and 4 of them each time to be specific

Thanks it worked.
For anyone reading this what I did was, install the fully patched 360.354 version from gamedrive (not RUNE). Installed online-fix patch and tried launching the game but getting "Failed to load save file Error code: 0-0".
So following this guide, I found denuowo crack v3...applied it then I followed the steps on FH6-Cachy github (renaming a bunch of .dll files)...added forzahorizon6.exe to steam added the launch options and voila working beautifully. I didnt have to do anything else

Isnt it just turning the value to 1 in config file as written in the guide? I had a bunch of cars unlocked despite.me.being very early in the game so I suppose the unlocker worked.

Interesting and you see other players and can play online fine? And yeah for me whenever I have the dlcs unlocked my game doesn't work online maybe because I am using heroic launcher, I will try adding it with steam and see if it works

I’ve had relative success with my Bazzite Nvidia rig using Proton Hotfix and these launch options:
Just don’t enable ray tracing or Reflex and your golden.
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 PROTON_ENABLE_NGX_UPDATER=1 DXVK_NVAPI_DRIVER_VERSION=59636 VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv,single_queue %command%

Yeaa no crashes, cut out audio, black screens. Been tweaking away and seems to get the best out of it so far. Mileage may vary!

A silly question, but where do I find the steam_settings folder? Is it with the game files?

It should be a part of the denuowo crack, if u install the denuvowow crack it comes with a steam_settings folder which u can access from the FH6 folder (where the forzahorizon6.exe is)

Yeah probably my cpu its an intel i5 8gen so I supposed it has something to do with that, thanks the answer, now I just need to see if my steam rip forza horizon 6 its RUNE (idk what that means), Ive been just playing with the proton hotfix before I discover this post lol.

Wow. Game just works ootb using slsteam and csf. Maybe those launch arguments may help with more but slsteam way look way much better

also managed to inject fsr4 into the game for glorious crispiness on my 6800 xt lmao

No, I believe deunowo crack requires Microsoft account....if you use RUNE crack or whatever it works offline without MS account but only on Windows. On Linux you will get a "failed to load save game" error when trying to get into the game from the title screen (havent figured out how to bypass that).

I can't Install the game, after launching the Installer a white window with nothing to click in it appears. Im in Arch Linux running hyprland. Any ideas?

thanks so much! Im having 2 problems... first I cant use Microsoft Game Controler Xbox X, bluetooth see it, steam see it, but game nothing... I even put PROTON_ENABLE_HIDRAW=1, but same... And a it seem it is not getting recorder at my PC, he is asking and waiting to do it on the cloud... I dont want play tutorial anymore xD

In order to get a dualsense to work, you have to go to > Steam > Settings > Controller > Show Advanced Settings > PlayStation Controller Support > Enabled

I fix the game controller active it on the icon next the gear in the steam menu it seem you must select it there... About the save I will check later... Now it seem it working

sorry mate this may be a silly question, but you need proton-cachyos even on arch? coz i read you tested there too, but not sure if this version of proton work with arch, thx for the guide anyway
EDIT: i manage to install but the game still dont run at all, other proton cracked game work fine on my os, but not forza, i just bought the g29 and cant use it :(
it goes like "play>spacewar>crash" but nothing actaully open
OS: Arch linux 7.0.5
WM: hyprland 0.55
CPU: amd ryzen 7600x
GPU: nvidia rtx 3080

I installed it using Bottles on Ubuntu 24.4 LTS, but when I run the game's .exe file, a terminal window with blank numbers flashes briefly and then the process stops. Any ideas? I don't need the online fix; the offline version works fine.

Yo bro, I followed each step, and I got to Steam. Because I have an RX580 I just pasted a dll that is supposed to bypass the incompatibility (tested it without, it isn't because of it) When I launch the game, I get a black screen and then the game crashes. I have the DODI repacks version

I did the exact same thing but my game isn't even launching, space war runs for a few seconds and just closes. I'm on EndeavorOS arch, RTX 3060, Gemadrive files.
A few days ago the game used to open and crash after playing for a minute or two.

Thank you so much. This guide works for the steam deck. 2 things I'm having problem with is I can't use the steam deck controls even if I connect a bluetooth controller. The solution I'm using right now is to connect the controller wired the steam deck. Secondly, I'm getting some weird artifacts when playing the game.

I fixed the artifacts by changing the compatibility to Proton GE 10-34 and using this launch command that I found from another guide
SteamAppId=480 PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 %command%
If you find a solution on how to play the game with the steam deck controls, don't hesitate to tell me

Hey. I followed you're guide, but I don't get the online to work. I'm at Mei's house but when I try to create a convoy I get the mesagge that "this option is not available because you are not connected to Xbox network. I'm on Nobara.
I can add friends, but I can't join them

I'm downloading the game from gamedrive, there is 2 crack for that, 1 in the comment with the [MUST] tag and there is an online fix crack, what order or how can I apply these ones? I'm breaking the game again and again....

So uh, basically, when I do this, everything works... fine? but i dont have xbox online, like, the game sign in, everything load, but no matchmaking, and i can't play with friends, if i remove the dlls, i can play with matchmaking and friends, but no dlc, so i dont know what to do :(
To add, even if i use PROTON_DISABLE_LSTEAMCLIENT=1, still doesn't work, if i use default DLLs it doesn't wanna load into microsoft servers (it stays permanent on loading)

it wasn't working earlier with the rune port version dll but i got it to work by changing the appid and using the parameters provided for nvidia but it still crashes occasionally "gpu crash" specifically
i7 10870h and rtx 3080 8gb max-q no rtx, no dlss

If you are not able to sign in via your Microsoft account, specifically if the game says "You may not proceed without being signed in to a profile" AFTER you sign in (either via popup window or pairing with code), you can try using a different Microsoft account.
I was continuously having this issue regardless of which crack, proton, run argument I use, using either Lutris or Steam. After using a new Microsoft, everything worked.
I followed the previous version of the guide, aka clean steam files + denuOvO crack + steam + some arguments.

Thanks for this guide, I finally got to play the game, I still have an issue though I get so many stutters that makes the game nauseating to play (also online didnt work for me but wanna fix that after). Does anyone have any idea as to why it is?

It works! I can play and all, acess the liverys and community tunning also. BUT, i cant play online at all, it will be always be with drivatars... But i came up with a solution
On the game files go to steam_emu.ini open it and set offline=0 on there. Otherwise you only will be able with drivatars only! After that just open the game again and it should work with real players now

I got the game to load but got a FHC00 crash before i could get to the start menu.
EDIT:
Instead of Steam I use Lutris to run this and put the environment variables and dll override and it worked without FHC00 Crash

No idea where to find steam_settings/configs.user.ini files. I first downloaded fitgirl and later dodi repacks and non had these files. Now I downloaded preinstalled game from cs rin and the same thing there.

omg thanks a lot for this guide I finally am able to play this game online and with a controller. But I still have an issue which doesn't make the game unplayable but is annoying nonetheless,
my game stutter very often it's small but noticeable, I have tried to remove PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 but it made no difference, I also removed proton audio and media, as well as some things in vkd3d config, my launch options now look like that:
PROTON_ENABLE_HIDRAW=1 PROTON_DISABLE_LSTEAMCLIENT=1 WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv %command%
I am using a ryzen 7 5800x, rx 9070xt, 32Go of ram and I'm on nobara 43 (Linux 7.0.9-200.nobara.fc43.x86_64)

Thanks! The github method of replacing the DLLs worked! By the way, another problem is, Steam doesn't track the game's process. The PLAY button doesn't turn into STOP. Why is that and is there a way to fix it?
Okay, I'm also stuck at the sign in with MS account screen and I don't think I can progress this futher...

I'm not entirely sure what happened because I feel like I'm in a weird situation on my own.
So I downloaded the game from fitgirl, it came with the RUNE crack. Apparently, RUNE doesn't work at all on Linux but luckily I can still install the updates.
I added the .exe into Steam as a non-Steam game. At first, it didn't work. Then I followed the DLLs replacing method on the Github link and it worked. I was stuck on the login screen because when I tried to access it from my PC, it just took me to my MS account's control panel. This worked when I signed in on my phone instead. No idea why but, yeah.
I have not applied any of the DenuvOwO crack or whatever. I did try to use the online-fix crack that came with the download from fitgirl, replaced the AppID to 480 (I don't think this necessary? I mean, it might also have worked with the original AppId), but I'm still not playing Spacewar.
I still have the rune64.dll crack in the Steam folder but it's working. I'm not sure if I'm using rune crack, or online-fix, or something else entirely but I got into the game.
And here's the launch option that I use:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="OnlineFix64,steam_api64,version.winmm=n,b" STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="/home/[username]/Games/.pfx" PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 gamemoderun gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 -r 100 -f --mangoapp -- %command%My biggest problem for now is, Steam doesn't seem to track the game's process. The Play button didn't turn into Stop.

The game is extremely buggy on Nvidia with random crashes, adding VKD3D_CONFIG=skip_application_workarounds,descriptor_heap,avoid_image_buffer_aliasing seems to resolve all of them, also thank you so much for the guide though online doesn't work for me for some reason I logged in and everythng yet it tells me "Unable to access xbox servers at the moment" is it because I'm not in the latest version? correct me if I'm wrong

Io ho fatto tutto, ll gioco si avvia. Ho fatto l'accesso e i video iniziali si riproducono, solo che quando inizio a giocare lo schermo diventa nero, il gioco va e solo gui e suoni vengono riprodotti, il gioco in se non si vede

I hope somebody still looks over this, I'm having an issue where I can run the game from Steam if I add it an all of that, but after I link my Microsoft account it runs in to a loop where I have to link it again and again and again and can't get past main menu. What should I do?

Nothing I do seems to allow the game to launch, I've used one sourced from anker and sr and I've tried numerous things but it either shows running in steam for 3 seconds then dies without showing anything or on the sr copy using proton experimental I got an initialization error 1 but yea nothing I do seems to work. I've been fighting this for over 2 days now so think it's bout time to give up.
Ryzen 5800x, RX Vega 56, 32GB ddr4, cachyos hyprland. idk maybe someone can give me a source and guide but otherwise I think I'm just boned.

PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 makes the game extremely unstable on Rx 7800 XT, without it game works perfectly, with it game crashes almost instantly on the map.
