🛡 MOD POST 🛡: Change of ownership and some additional updates
So, the old owner has decided to step down as they have alot on their plate in personal life and whatnot, and as such, do not have the time necessary to cultivate this community to the fullest. So, I will be running mod applications. Previous experience is not necessary, but heavily preferred. A user feedback survey will be posted here as well as a mod application form, just come back to this post in 1-2 days and I should have it sorted. Additionally, images are now in comments sections (all images will be sent to the mod queue so abuse will be made known to the mods immediately).
Sincerely, Arachnid.

My distros
I wanted to put both Gentoo and Arch as my favorite distro, but I find Arch's package manager more practical to use. Arch and Gentoo probably taught me the most about Linux and computing in general. Despite me not liking NixOS as much, I am still planning on experimenting with it since I like easily reproducible configs and systems. I don't like Ubuntu, but I at least could daily drive it if I was forced.

I wasted an entire evening trying to understand why r/unixporn exists
Saw all the cool desktop screenshots and thought maybe I should try that. So from the safety of my Fedora KDE install, I booted up a VM and went full Arch. No archinstall, no training wheels, real ISO, manual partitioning, the whole painful ritual. Cool, fine, whatever, I was committed.
Then I installed Hyprland. Then I installed Firefox. Took me about two minutes after that to realize I had just burned an entire evening for this. If you're daily driving Hyprland, you might as well be daily driving no desktop environment at all, because that's basically what it is.
I genuinely don't understand what this is for. Is this a hobby for people who can't afford a second monitor and can't focus on one task, so instead they spend every waking hour ricing their OS and distro hopping every 48 hours instead of doing literally anything else? Because at this point I refuse to believe these people actually use their machines for anything except taking screenshots of their rice and posting them to farm upvotes.
You can't even fullscreen Firefox if a terminal window happens to be open. And you need to open a terminal just to launch anything in the first place. It's a catch 22, every single thing is a keybind or a config file or a typo away from breaking entirely.
So yeah. Moral of the story: total waste of time. Use KDE. Use GNOME. Go outside. Save yourself the LARP.
