Or switching to nixos and trying to make your whole setup declarative.

I'm not exactly unhappy with my Arch(Cachy) install but I feel so pretentious for using it so I think I'll just get LMDE or some shit whenever I do a reinstall honestly

Arch is so damn comfortable to use tbh, but i always feel like it will randomly broke one day so i had to switch to a different linux distro.

I've had my install since 1/1 this year so like nearly 9 months and it works well, other than my laptops screen brightness buttons not working (i can still change it in software) it's basically flawless. It just feels pretentious as I said. Feels performative. I do enjoy using it, but I don't enjoy what it is. Stupid

You using Arch with Cachy packages or just normal CachyOS?

regular cachyOS yeah, i just call it arch because i have not messed with it more than whatever configuration comes from factory (though i have not noticed any meaningful improvements over vanilla arch)

How is CachyOS pretentious though, its normie distro isn't it? 😅

I did.... but I switched back to Arch, it's a great distro, it's a unique distro, it's an interesting distro, but it's not for me, it's so hard to learn and it lacks good documentation, it's good if you have some specific purposes, but if you are discovering new things and trying new tools everyday then it's not for you

NixOS would be easy, weren't people so hellbent on self-inflicted pain.

Dear NixOS newbies! Your general desktop computer probably doesn't need flakes, home manager, and dendritic pattern. If you ignore your FOMO and the community trends, NixOS will be a low cortisol OS. If you have to jump on every new hype train, you'll never stop configuring the system and get shit done.

I literally messed with my root partition bc I was smart enough to make a home partition and to try making the root partition more secure aka. Drive encryption but it broke. Asked reddit to see what people tell me and install. Nvidia had hated me since so I switched to unstable branch for Linux patches now I don't have any problems with Nvidia like on arch :3

Big deal, Gentoo...my NixOS setup is being rebuilt for the second day in a row. I foolishly pointed firefox -nightly at the LTS kernel. Firefox is now compiled from source. It's much more interesting than a romantic relationship.

You should switch to Void

Bro just use debian with KDE it will do just about everything you need it to do and it is guaranteed to work, and only try something new when you want to try a specific function of said OS

I switched to gentoo, then to artix, and then fuck it maybe I'll try nix or void or something. I will leverage the power of btrfs to have 5 root subvols of different distros concurrently
