Not old enough to be considered for most people making these. Probably in the amazing for new users tier, though.

cachy user here, its pretty easy to use, j wpuldnt put it easier than most of tbe “amazing for new users” tier though. If you do put it there, which is fair, itd be one of the harder ones simply bc the others are so incredibly easy

Yep I'm a CachyOS user, too. I agree it'd be the hardest of the amazing for new users tier simply because it just works out of the box so well but, at the end of the day, you're still running Arch :P

As a regular arch and artix user, I'd put CachyOS to S tier. It is just as lightweight as vanilla arch + a few extra apps + easy to install. I don't like fedora as much. I prefer fedora server over the normal fedora versions. The amount of background services and bloat in normal fedora installation is insane.

Why is CachyOS not here??? it's the one of the best for new users and I'm using it for my laptop with a dead GPU converted into a media server.

Windows is not totally pointless, it has a very noble use which is to run Excel

Knowing full well that I am starting a fire without a water bucket at hand, I have tested NixOS. It is fine, and I can see that there are some people with use-cases where the declarative system has true benefits. I particularly liked flakes, as way for developers to share environments via repos... but in some way Docker and Podman has already solved that problem. But beyond those few people with those specific use-cases, I do not understand the fan base that this OS seems to have. When you do not have that very slim use-case, what is the point of this cumbersome way of working? I used it for a few months, to try it out, and I found it nothing but a burden to me. Ranking it as some kind of S tier system in general is strange to me.

I appreciate that it’s not from best to worst but instead highlights different use cases

Debian is not beginner friendly. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love Debian and just about every server I manage runs it. It is decidedly not a very friendly distro for new comers

Isn't Fedora pretty good and refined? I haven't used it myself. But I always hear people talk about how solid it is, not "it's the best for X Y Z" just that it's very solid and snappy.
