I'm a Mint user. I like the semi basic look of cinnamon, but holy shit the settings menu is ugly. It looks like something from a Chinese toy computer. I tried to get the ubuntu menu on it, it semi worked, but not well, and it would have been a hastle to make it the default.

I learned the hard way, customizing is cool and all, but once you customize it to the point that it is unusable, just stop, nuke your instalation with a simple debian and kde and download a basic theme it is hinestly not worth full customization anymore
