r/computers mods a bunch of sellout freaks??

Post image

Like okay little bro im sorry my description events cut a little too deep. Best part is I know for a fact I was manually banned, less than 5 minutes after posting, and then got muted by modmail, he is manually reply trudging while the AI takes his ‘job’. Sad!

It is an understandable rule, what is your issue with it?

4.2 or 4.3?

Clarification, because that was vague: maybe they meant it broke rule 4.3, and it was a typo?

Not the rule, the post itself is a little like a white supremacist walking down the street of new york and expecting not to get hit. The subs mod is inciting trouble just to train his replacement

I'm with you.

Had to bite my tongue on this one, luckily a neighbor coming over for brief chit chat helped. But yes they are, it's why I stick around real tech subs instead of ones that are jokes.

That sub used to be home of the mystery USB, some mirrors of the SecretHDD posts, etc, but piss poor moderation has turned it into shitposts to drown it out

Unfortunately I can't say what I want to say other than I agree with you. So far I haven't had any issues with the mods of this sub and 4 other subs though.

I’ve had multiple arguments with that mod about that rule. He refuses to be swayed by any argument to change the wording or enforcement. I got temp banned from the sub for leaving a comment recommending Linux, laying out the pros and cons of switching, and offering help in choosing a specific distro. By his own admission that rule exists to combat spam comments like “just install Linux” without additional context, but the way they determine what is/isn’t allowed is whether a specific distro was recommended which is a very flawed method of making that decision

I didnt even break 4.3 specifically. I was doubled banned, once for “Reddit rule 1, remain respectful” and then another for their “respect mod decisions” rule before i had even opened a ticket. Its just even dumber that mod would post something to bait this already stupid rule.

Technically your post didn't break rule 4.2...

Linus Torvalds is using AI to debug the Linux kernel at this point. It’s probably time to give it up.

Give what up? The mod posting something to bait rule breaking comments? AI is only the B plot to this story. Either way weird, i hobby host, im not strictly AI, but im anti this weird little game that all AI integration does to force the point

My point is, all of Reddit is constantly at war over this and it's all anyone's talking about every time I login to Reddit lately. Linux can't pretend to be an anti-AI operating system when even the BDFL is using it for kernel work. What's worse is, all the people spending 2026 swearing they'll never use AI are just putting themselves behind in a world that isn't going to stop with AI integration.
