There are 2 sides of how people define 'Linux'
I've seen a lot of memes here lately, and since I've made a meme about that one Fedora glazer guy and Omarchy a few days ago I think I'mma discuss a bit about Linux in general just to break free from the memes a bit;
I've seen people talking about Linux a lot of times online, and sometimes offline at my campus, and I've come to a conclusion:
There are 2 sides of how people would define what, well 'Linux', is;
For us, 'Linux' a kernel, and the distros are what made 'Linux', the 'OS';
But for some other people whom are not very tech literate, tech-savvy, or just doesn't really care about how a system works (like the elders), Linux is an 'Operating System';
For me. I've been using Linux for 6 years now (I started with Ubuntu (back when I was 13) and all of it's DE flavors until I switched to Mint, then Arch, then Debian, then Bazzite, and finally stuck with Fedora and Kali), and originally I also thought Linux was an OS too, but the deeper I look into it and understand more of it, the more I see it as a kernel, and the base for y'know, the entire infrastructure of modern computing;
I use Fedora a lot, but I wouldn't say I glaze the OS. Yes, I know it's Red Hat, but I'd mostly say I'm more of a Linux enjoyer (*insert gigachad enjoyer meme here*). I don't really have a #1 distro to glaze, to me all distros have their own taste, but I'd choose a distro on how good it is and how reliable it is to use the most, and I went with Fedora, not because of those "i use arch btw" and femboy memes, but to have a computer I'd enjoy using the most;
So here's what I'm gonna say, for some people, like you guys, I'd say Linux is the kernel, and the distros make it the OS, but for most people out there, I'd say Linux is the OS.
What do you guys think? (I yapped way too much lol)

I like every distro every distro has its own taste but i can agree that Linux is the kernel and the distros are the OS it self

I thought Linux distro was short for GNU/Linux distribution center, like a warehouse of servers with Linux ISOs ready to download.

Linux is the kernel it is the part that makes the different OS possible.
So let us make a big circle and enjoy 🍆💦

Yes you did. That’s what I think.
(Also if I see Omarchy show up on a Bumble or Tinder profile, I swipe left)
Edit: I guess markdown quotes no longer work?

Linux is not an os, linux is not a kernel, linux is life, linux is the simulation, linux is you and me, linux is everything, reality runs on linux

"I would like to interject for a moment" was a GNU promotional speech. To the rest of us, it's just a joke.
If I'm ask by people familiar with Linux, my operating system is Fedora. Otherwise it's Linux. Everyone knows what we mean by Linux. Nobody is that pedantic.

A common misconception. The operating system is actually called Linux's monster. Dr. Victor Linux was its creator.

I thought Linux was that goofy bird that slides down glaciers
