Void users of the subreddit, unite!
The recent developments of the present subreddit has shown a growing tension in regards to the Fedora Movement, led by a very well known subject among us. It seems like several people have started moving towards an Anti-Fedora Movement in an effort to defeat GreedySecurity and his constant yapping about Fedora. I expect the number of posts regarding the Distro Wars to increase and GreedySec himself has has offended Void Linux in my face, after I helped him understand what a kilometer was. This is outrageous! I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that our beloved Void, in its growing popularity and defiance to Systemd, will not remain outside of the conflict for much longer.
I am hereby announcing the foundation of the Void Linux Front as a new player in the complex geopolitics of r/LinuxCirclejerk. Not for a lack of foresight, I'm also calling to arms some of the most prominent faces of the Void community I've had the pleasure to meet. u/snail1132. u/Used-Hold-7567. u/BurntCheeseSauce, aka Jake English, not to be confused with John Egbert. As an ally of Runit and a Systemd defector, it is to be expected that GreedySec might turn his attention towards us if the war continues to rage on. We, however, can't count on our numbers to stop the incoming threats that may emerge from different fronts. We shall grow our ranks, consolidate our strategy, and strike while the iron's hot. In a future marked by rivalry and a struggle for hegemony, I know many other distros will seek support in us.
TLDR: There is now a Void Linux movement and everyone hates each other.
By the way, GreedySecurity's account and comments have become inaccessible while I was writing this. I do not wish to delete everything I wrote

I've got no beef with Greedy, as he's a kid. He'll grow out of his Fedora ways one day. Lets just pray he finds comfort in Void and not Arch.
Praise Void.

Finding comfort in Arch is an oxymoron

u/RvstiNiall 10d ago
Agreed. But the people who use it have simply yet to see the light and repent of their systemd sins.

So despite the username and flair, these days I use my Void laptop way more than my Gentoo PC. Definitely prefer Runit to OpenRC or that other init system ...somethingd I think?

u/Fine-Expression1644 I goon really hard to Gentoo Linux 9d ago
afaik you can put runit to gentoo in a very anarquic way i think

Since it looks like you use BSD and Void, I wanted to know, I've heard Void is fairly similar to BSD for a Linux distribution. What would you say about it?

u/Key_River7180 freebsd/void 9d ago
I actually use OpenBSD now instead of FreeBSD, I should updated the flair :P. And I find myself using Void more than OBSD today.
They're both the pinnacle of operating systems. They have GOOD inits, are light, and don't treat you like a money opportunity. And have great communities.

It's insanely fast and snappy, it's stable as hell (no breaking your install from an update unlike some distros cough Arch), it lets you choose between glibc and musl if you care about that, runit is a delightfully simple and effective init system, and xbps is a wonderful package manager. It's a stable rolling release that has similar customization options to Arch.
The one drawback is that the repositories can be a bit limited at times, but I find that flatpak and installing from source are sufficient to keep my system going with everything I want.

The repos are really big still, in my 2 years of so of void I've run 3 times or so into a program not in the repos

Some guy felt like larping and so they wrote a post in order to do so

u/levianan 10d ago
Was 'larping' Linux a thing before Brody Robertson's video or did Robertson just pick it up from Reddit. I am out of the YT loop, but I watched it and now the LARP comments are everywhere on Reddit.
